Appreciate that you covered antip2w! The more people know about pay to win, the less effective those servers are.

Glad the darker side of Minecraft is getting more awareness, but I hope everyone can agree that the "golden age" of Minecraft was one of the best eras of the internet. Amazing soundtrack too.

really hurt watching the part with Sky, I viewed him as a hero when I was younger, even after he slowly faded out I believed him to be a good guy and had no clue about this whole thing about him until now.

Thesis: " Notch is an incel "
Evidence: He was negative about a rough break up

Yeah I don't know about this one chief.

I used to hate Minecraft when I was really young but after one fun video in Minecraft it made me like it. A few years later and I still like it. It's very hard to not to get nostalgia, especially when it comes from minecraft

The internet is like a city. If you know your way around, and you avoid the wrong people; you'll be fine.

As someone who played minecraft for about a decade now these issues have been around for a long time now, but with the ever increase of the popularity of youtube theres bound to be more evil that comes along with the good of the community. Great minidoc as always VV

I wouldnt call Notch an incel. Incels are people who cant even get laid, let alone get married and have a kid. I just think it was Notch venting his sadness and displeasure with the divorce. Its common for men and women to do that. As i said before, an incel is an 'involuntary celibate' or a person who feels they are not attractive and take their anger out on the women who reject them. Notch is quite the opposite. Unlike incels, Notch actually got a woman and a kid. Something incels cannot do.

I write something like this very rarely. This video is extremelly well made, I really love the atmosphere, use of effects and how you covered up everything about the dark side of minecraft. I can't really explain it but this type of videos are just perfect. Keep this amazing work up cuz you earned a new sub.

Ever since I was a kid I wanted Minecraft but my parents didn’t allow it. I begged them for so many days but then eventually gave up. But nowadays seeing how much hurt that it could have done to me as a kid I’m somewhat glad that my parents didn’t allow me. I watched Minecraft videos all the time when they were starting to get to their peak and remembered being so jealous of all the friends that they had made on there but now, seeing how many friends they truly had and how many “friends” that they manipulated to stay really puts a perspective on things. Not everything is a fine line between good and evil and sometimes it’s hard to see what’s good and what’s not online especially when people have facades that they turn to for virtual innocence. I’m so glad you covered this topic because to be honest I wanna go back to those days of mostly good people and just laughs, cool mods, and transparent content.

I've been a massive fan of Minecraft since I think 2013, so basically 10 years ago, 2 years after its full release, but seeing minecraft turn into something very messed up honestly made me lose my respect. The report system, and most notably the stans because I was thinking they're the main reason why Minecraft's reputation is being destroyed by these intoxicated people. They're everywhere, even on Twitter where there's so many of them. They have the power and audacity to trend anything on Twitter that's related to Minecraft, such as the DreamSMP for example which they are mostly super obsessed with. For example, Dream, Tommyinnit, and more Minecraft content creators. And let's not forget that they can cancel them for the ridiculous reasons you could ever possibly imagine. Dream has been canceled countless times. If Minecraft was a truly improvement change to literally prevent these types of things from happening, then they need to respond to their community, but they still turn on a blind eye. Even though I'm excited for the Minecraft 1.20 Trails And Tales update, we still have to be cautious and aware of what Minecraft's doing.

Minecraft nerd here with some notes:

1:33 he actually tweeted this as a joke, but after getting the unexpected response he actually agreed which is kinda funny.

3:53 mojang was already under fire for plenty of reasons at around the same time, which made the whole ordeal even more controversial. Also, it's worth mentioning, there was some censorship before already (mostly in bedrock edition if I recall) but it took things to the extreme.
5:03 I've experienced it first hand, and let me tell you, it's BAD. Sometimes I couldn't even tell why I was getting censored (one notable example being "some diamonds" iirc, something COMPLETELY innocent), and almost every other message I sent had to be rephrased multiple times.

7:23 I don't know FOR SURE you're wrong, but I heavily doubt this is the first. The first POPULAR one maybe, but not the overall first recording of any SMP.

8:08 pretty sure he did that as a joke

10:15 when he says often, he means OFTEN. I've had my account stolen once (luckily I was able to get it back with no losses, my dad mostly handled it so I don't remember the specifics), and I've known many others that had the same happen to them. This is not a rare phenomena, it's just another Tuesday.

12:32 millions, give us the respect we deserve >:D

13:42 not a Minecraft related note, but this marketing tactic of getting you to believe there's a sale is really common in any place you can imagine

Overall, good job researching this. As someone who doesn't really participate in the Minecraft community (to my knowledge) you sure do know your stuff.

I don't understand the notch being an incel part, he said that she wanted a normal life and that's it

The start of why notch wanted to sell minecraft is completely incorrect. In fact its linked to one of the darkest parts of minecraft that Notch wanted to address, the private servers built to scam/pay2win players. a lot of these private servers were raking in decent money. Mojang put out new Terms of Services to combat this toxic part of minecraft, so you can see why there was massive efforts to ramp up the backlash, people making big money dont want to let go of that. He was tired of it because of the massive backlash for putting out new legal terms of services for exactly these private servers. It was at this point he made that tweet. Not because he just wanted to make prototypes. Notch stepped away from Minecraft dev and gave that to Jeb while he worked on prototypes, by the time Notch sold he hasnt worked on minecraft for years. I played a few of them and they just that, a bunch of prototype. Also that incel part was horrific speculation, Notch is a billionaire who threw lavish huge parties in his hollywood mansion with celebrities attending regularly. That is about as far from incel as anyone can get, he needed no effort to get laid. He traveled and visited the biggest party islands out there. I'm sure if you ever have a look at Notch's inbox, you will see tons of women wanting to worm themselves into his life.

I would like to mention that it does seem like large parts of what you said about MC Java 1.19.1 is untrue or slightly twisted.

Signs would never get censored on Java. That only happens on Bedrock, and it had been like that for a long while before Java 1.19.1.

Mojang never monitored or planned to monitor the chat. They specifically put a system in place where people could select messages to report, which _then_ Mojang would see.

The chat would never be censored, except for their own Realms services, where you can easily turn that setting off for your own Realm with no caveats.

Most of the issues which could cause abuse of chat reports were fixed. There are some ways to get around it, but it seems to be a lot more difficult than it initially was.

Censorship of "bad words" would largely only happen on Bedrock, and, as I said, it had been happening for a while before Java 1.19.1.
