In 1973 Peter Sellers, one of the biggest comedy actors at the time, embarked on a pirate comedy for Columbia Pictures. He lost confidence with the film immediately and tried to sabotage it, firing the producers before turning on his friend (and the film's young director), Peter Medak. Despite an illustrious career and the passing of 43 years since the unraveling of the production, Medak is still reeling from the disastrous experience and healing from the wounds inflicted by Peter Sellers and the film’s failure.

This was a great documentary, I felt it. Peter Medak did it because he kept things in his soul that he never let out.

Sad it never got completed. But when Peter Sellers was wrestling with a bad depression and heart failure from time to time in life i guess turning on his own friends was the way it ended up. I wonder why the ones who play happy sometimes are the saddest when actors like Robin Williams, Richard Pryor and on all suffered from mental health issues.

People forget he was in The Blockhouse with Charles Aznevour in 1973. Very powerful film. He's fine in it, but other performers are up to it also.

I've been a fan of Sellers since first seeing the Pink Panther movies as a kid, and watching his comedic genius at work in Dr Strangelove, The Party, and Being There. But, I never knew about this unreleased gem. Its sad that the world will never see it.

Sellers was autistic. He had almost no personality of his own and struggled with that. He lived as a cosplay of various characters. Very sad. Chauncy Gardner was literally himself.

The DVD of the movie is still on sale. People actually charge money for it.

Sellers' best: The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu, a 1980 "comedy"
