Vacuum Chuck for the VB36

Adding a Vacuum Chuck to a "VB36' can be an expensive endeavor. If you have an older model "VB" your hand wheel is not threaded and you may need a special adapter to make it work. I have found that the "Harrison Specialties" vacuum chuck is an easy and inexpensive solution to our challenge. It's only a three inch chuck but it covers most of my needs.

You asked in an email if this chuck was available with 33 - 3.5 threads. We don't offer that thread but a spindle adapter is available for just $20 at Penn State Industries is that converts M33 – 3.5 to 1 - 8. That adapter used with a vacuum chuck with 1 - 8 threads should work quite nicely on a lathe with M33 spindle threads.


As mentioned in the video a longer tube is available and may be needed if this adapter is used. The standard tube length is 19" when measured from the threaded opening to the end of the tube.
