So nobody tested the husband for gunshot residue? I thought this was standard operating procedure in cases like these...

“He cares about his spiritual life. He’s a devoted Christian.” I am so utterly sick and tired of this being a blanket defense that someone who is spiritual or religious is automatically a good person.

It's not vanity that makes women less likely to die by suicide - it's a desire to not traumatize the loved ones who will find them or leave behind a horrific mess.

When the police said she had died, his response was, "are you sure."

The most daming evidence is Kristen was starting to take control of her life while in a controlling marriage. That is the most dangerous time with a mentally abusive partner.

Never tell a controlling narcissist you are leaving him. And don't act increasingly assertive. Just get a few ducks in order, act the same, and go.

Funny how everyone who knee her before thought she was always happy but everyone on his side thinks she is timid and quiet. Says a lot about how he affected her

As soon as the 911 call started, one minute in, I was like, “oh, there’s the killer.” Reminds me of a little kid crying when they’ve done something they shouldn’t.

This dude is such a liar…he lied about his military service, lied about the life insurance, lied about the online chic…

biggest predictor of homicide by a partner is not how violent the partner is, but how controlling.

One thing all these cases have in common is that the victims are killed by what they tend to fear most, whether it be guns, strangulation/any form of suffocation, being assaulted, being poisoned, etc. Any other true crime fan noticing that pattern?

I worked with a private investigator (my spouse) for 10 years, and anytime I heard “I’m a Christian” or “I’m not gonna lie to you, blah blah blah, ” my trust went way down. Best one tho, was when a guy in jail said “there’s no way they could identify me! I had a sock hat over my face!” Really? That’s what you want us to tell the DA? Really?

He cried so fake during the interrogation. But he calmly chatted about video games with the responding officer, even though he 'just found' his wife dead. Creepy man.

Some time ago I read a flyer for battered and abused women and I always took that advice seriously because it's sound advice.
1. Never tell an abuse that you're leaving. Gather your documents and a few clothes and leave. You can take the rest later with a police escort.
2. the three weeks (aprox.) after leaving an abusive partner is the most dangerous time of your life. Leave to a place you know he's not going to look for you . Not your parents's house, not your friend's house that he know of. Lay low for at least three weeks after. Don't go to places where you routinely go to. It's not fair that you have to give up on yet more things, but it's better to be alive than sorry.
3. Gather evidence. Make a folder with photos if you have any, texts, theats, damanges if he damaneged your property in any way. The first response in a situation like this is to block, change your number, etc. but if you can still keep your old number and record the threatening texts etc and angry voice mails he sends you, that would be awesome. Taht will help you get a restraining order in place. You can even leave that phone number with someone you trust and get a second phone number for your personal use.
And this is my personal addition, turn off your location on all social media apps, and even on your phone all together. If you could get off social media for a while that would be in your interest to not give your location or schedule away.
Stay safe girls!

I have been single since 2014 and true crime convinces me I’m making the right decision!!

"Would she still be here had I been a better husband?"
Yes. Killing her makes him a TERRIBLE husband.

"He was a devoted Christian" - So what, he was also a murderer. I really hate it when they say things like that, as though religious people don't commit crimes.

2 mins in and already know there is no way she shot herself in the head. I've been shooting since I was 4 years old shooting probably around a quarter million rounds through various firearms and am always around people that have the same hobbies. That being said, ive never heard of a woman killing herself with a large caliber revolver like the one her husband says she used. Just so you know, revolvers like that one, weigh about as much as a 2 liter of soda, have a lot of wrist bending recoil, and are roughly 9"-13". The length alone would be difficult for a woman to hold while bending the front of it back at her head, then pulling the trigger. Just no In my opinion.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking when they talk about the little place she identified for her business. 😢
