Swann Flood Light Security Camera Review

On this video I show all the items that come in the box and then show the physical product attributes.

The Swann Floodlight Cam replaces existing outdoor light, which can be a regular light on a junction box, or non-smart floodlights.

The Swann Floodlight is weatherproof, so you can install it as an outdoor security camera, as it can be exposed to the elements.

It features a wireless security camera that connects directly to the router via Wi-Fi and records in 1080p full HD, while the power is hard-wired to an existing junction box.

The product has a lot of features, such as True Detect thermal sensing, which is a PIR sensor that senses heat from people or cars to start recording, send push notifications and turn the floodlights on.

It also records both locally and to the cloud. It has two way audio so you can talk to people near the camera, and an alarm siren that you can control via the ‘SAFE by Swann’ app.

The flood lights are quite bright with 2500 lumens and are strong enough to enable color night vision, and you can dim the lights via the app.

I embedded some sample footage of the night vision in color so you can see the image quality.

The Swann Floodlight Security System is part of a suite of 4 cameras that use the same ‘SAFE by Swann’ app, you can see the flyer I show on the video.

The other security cameras are the Smart Security Camera, Outdoor Security Camera and Indoor Security Camera which I’ll also review.

I called customer support and got some more information. FIrst their customer support is available 24 hours/day. Easily reachable. I was a little confused because I got a message that the videos were on SD backup. So, I called to see how big the SD card was and how I could access it. The answer is that it is not user accessible and it stores 7 days of data. But you can download the videos to your smart phone. There is a download icon on the bottom right of recorded videos. So far I really like this unit. I bought the Momentum Aria and it was similar in appearance but it triggered continually when nothing was there. I returned it. Thanks for your video. It helped me decide on this unit. I'll let you know if I remain happy with it.

Great review of Swann camera. Can you tell me please if you can view camera on more that one device eg. Phone and lap top or 2 different phones?

After subscription is over, what is the monthly fee approximately? If you turn the floodlight down to zero, is there a standstill light that remains on? And then when there is motion does it go on? How many seconds or minutes options for floodlight to remain on when in motion? Can you turn the siren off completely in not using it? How many lumens is flood light at its lowest beam and to its highest beam point?

Thanks for uploading, do you know if the detection zone can be customised / made smaller? As i only need a small area beside front door monitored and do not want passing traffic to send notifications.

Heavy duty construction? Not pot metal? Built tough? We know it isn't pot metal, but what is it? ABS? Aluminum?

App is quite different for Android.... My only gripe is the true heat detect function doesnt seem to really work. Im forced to use the motion settings because I dont see any settings for the true detect.

Your video didn't cover modes within the app (like "home" mode, "away, " and "night") so I assume Swan added the modes with a software update after you made this video. Is there a way to set the siren to be triggered for night mode only?

Great video. Looking at the Swann vs Ring vs Eufy cameras. After watching your video, the Swann is in the lead. Do I need 5G wifi to run the camera with wifi? I read something about this in the comments section on a retailer's website. I prefer to use the 2.4G setting on my wifi network.

i bought one in May 2020 worked off the old app flawlessly updated to new app loss connections false trips, can not connect to camera, had a tractor stolen right in front of camera and never triggered camera. updated again became a beta tester for there app, now i cannot get my camera to connect to the app. contacted tech by email and they said they are on a 14 day delay due to covid 19. i would not waste my money on this equipment. I was directed by tech support to reload the app and try pairing again, i did that today and still will not connect to camera thru app 12-12-2020

I have been trying this outdoor unit for 2 days now...simple answer...not impressed...it does not work as advertised...Snow storm going on right now and it is triggering motion every minute at lowest detect level..I have it pointed down as much as it will go.I have been fighting this detection system every since i got it.I am at the point of giving up and returning it to the store.
