TIPS ON THE BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT DAY
On the day of your appointment, you will bring the following:
1. Original Biometrics Appointment Notice that USCIS sent to you
2. A valid government issued ID - like a driver's license, passport, or green card
Also, you should plan to arrive at the USCIS Application Support Center 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time shown on your appointment notice (or Form I-797C).
Due to health and safety precaution, the application support center may not accept walk in appointments. As they need to limit the capacity of visitors within the building at all times.
Overall, the appointment lasts for about 20 minutes. So, you should be on your way out in no time.
You should also plan to bring a face covering to your appointment, just in case it is required for you to have one in order to enter the building.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET TO THE APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER (ASC)?
At the Application Support Center (ASC), you will not be allowed to use any electronic devices. If you must enter the Application Support Center with your cellphone, you should turn this off.
When you arrive the ASC, you will meet a receptionist who will review your Appointment Notice (Form I-797C) and your valid ID.
After the receptionist confirms your identity and your appointment schedule, you will be given a ticket number and a processing form.
You will then be asked to take a seat and wait for a biometrics officer to call you by your ticket number.
When the biometrics officer calls your ticket number, you will walk to the biometric officer's station and hand in all your documents. The biometrics officer will then review your documents and would enter your information into a computer.
Depending on the code number shown on your appointment notice (Form I-797C), you will be asked to scan some or all of your fingers, provide an electronic signature, or have your photo taken.
Once these are done, the biometrics officer will stamp your appointment notice, marking the end of the biometrics appointment.
The biometrics officer will then return your photo ID and your stamped appointment notice (Form I-797C), and you may leave the Application Support Center.
