*I upgraded from the 8 inch to the **Newest.Technology** 10 inch. I really didn't expect it to make that much difference but it has. It is also much faster and responsive. Great Purchase.*

One thing I wish someone told me before I bought the oasis is the disadvantages of metal. When you’re out in the sun at a beach or pool, it gets scolding hot to the point where you can’t touch it without a case. I hadn’t even considered that when I bought it. I am actually in the camp that preferred the original Oasis.

I would pay attention because about 4 minutes into the video, he starts calling the kindle the kobo and vise versa, such as at around 4:50 when he says "the kobo has this time left to read thing in the bottom left where on the kindle you have to..."

Holding something that says Amazon on the back of it is very Tacky and like having your gym clothes in a Walmart Plastic Bag lol. Think overall im going for the Kobo

Leaning toward Kobo for Manga but that's solely for screen real estate but I'm going to have to research the "like book" further. Renting library books seems a bit easier be on the Kobo though, decisions decisions.

Bang for your buck, Kobo, every day and twice on Sundays.

Thanks. For non-US consumers, Kobo has a major advantage in that Kobo users can borrow ebooks from their public libraries (a major saving for avid readers). I understand that you can't do so with Kindle outside USA.

I have really liked my Oasis, the size of the device and the screen are great, the amazon system is very good BUT the aluminum structure slides from the hand and leaves many fingerprints on it. I would prefer the device to have a rubberized back and sides to improve the grip.
Amazon should prioritize usability and practicality over aesthetics.

Great pithy comparison video. How would you compare the two e-readers to hold for extended periods of time? Why might one be more comfortable to hold than the other? Thanks!

Kindle has superior hardware in my opinion and a bit more polished software with perks such as translation lookup and the ability to send notes and annotations to your email in PDF format which is cool. Highlighting and typing is a lot quicker too. Bluetooth functionality is a plus as well. The Kindle also has a better light with more uniformity as seen in this video. I can confirm after going through 3 different Libra exchanges that the light on the newer Kobo's are not good at all.
However, where the Kobo has a MAJOR benefit is its customization options and better font sizes, margin control and line spacing options. This is an area were the Kindle simply cannot compete and is crucial for those that like flexibility. As great as the Kindles are, they are barely usable due to the poor lack of good font size options. This is a serious problem that Kindles have and those 3 settings, Fonts, Margins and Line spacing is something that Amazon has never updated nor addressed since the release of the Paperwhite back in 2012, 8 years ago! They have advanced in many other areas except the most crucial ones to reading. Makes no sense.

I am having a problem. I bought Forma used on Amazon, loved it better than old Kindle. It was working but button stuck pressed turning on & too hard & it went back to factory settings? I can’t get kobo forma connected to WiFi. I only use for overdrive. I have put password bottom of router & tried security code. I connected to internet, telling it that I had no WiFi, but now can’t get into overdrive without WiFi. I am retired RN. I guess I will need to call Spectrum to find out if there is a different password that I can’t find. Any suggestions welcomed. Jeanne

Confusing when you say 'Kindle" and you are working on the Kobo - and vice versa.

oz we have no way of buying the nice cases or covers made by amazon. The oasis itself costs $389 and who would put such an expensive device into a case that costs $15???? Thats the only reason i am not tempted to buy an oasis. The new kindle is out in two days but i don't think its much of an upgrade from my generation 2 paperwhite.

Would you please make a video review of reading pdf files on Kobo Forma?

I switched from Kobo Aura One to Kindle Oasis and... It's another world. The Kindle is so smooth, it is actually very nice to use in all kind of situations. The Kobo was so laggy and so slow, it was really frustrating sometimes. A lot of freeze, slow turning page, slow changing values of light, unusable sensors of autosetting lights. The sad part is that Kobo has a lot of interesting features like reading statistics, better customizable system, better overall quality of the display ( for me ) but like said it was all too slow and laggy. Kindle is way more minimal and poor, but looks like a smartphone.
When Kobo will upgrade their CPU maybe I'll switch back, right now Kobo it's too behind in terms of usability. Oh and the Kobo forma costs 280€ while Amazon is selling refurbished Kindle Oasis for 220€.
