I sang a duet with Paul on my second cd for BMG/RCA called Ceilings and walls. The song is called ready to go home. He was so gracious and humble. I was star struck. I later saw him with Squeeze and went back stage to say hello. Great guy. Amazing singer and artist. Mike Rutherford also played guitar on it.

So true about the Chemistry. Paul Young brought so much energy, charisma and talent to an already brilliant line up. Sometimes boots are too hard to fill!

That’s sad. He couldn’t use “The Living Years” yet I can’t even imagine anyone else singing it. Paul is so humble I really don’t think he actually knows just how good he is. Well Paul I’ll tell you. YOUR THE BEST HANDS DOWN.

It's always interesting to hear stories and learn facts about musicians and songs. I've always been a devout fan of Paul Carrack and put him in a group that I call "The Paul Trio"! The three greatest male vocalists named Paul.... Paul Carrack, Paul Young and Paul Rodgers. Music of the 70's, 80's & 90's wouldn't have been the same without them!

Excellent interview here John. So interesting to hear this story from Paul. He seems a little hurt over how it went down but stuff happens in life. The fans appreciate what an excellent and underrated vocalist he is. His voice made those albums.

Great series of interview clips. I can understand why Paul decided that he needs to have his own catalog of music that he controls.

I saw him perform Living Years at a concert in 2002 in Southport, Merseyside, in the UK.

Hyper interesting interview clip with my favorite singer. Paul has been mistreated by the music business on other occasions too. His razor sharp pop/soul album Beautiful World, packed with should-be-hits, was abandoned by the record company. This made him go independent.

The M&M album he did after Paul Young's death, Rewired, is one of those criminally underrated albums. All songs are co-written by PC, but you sure can hear the main composer is Paul. Fantastic stuff: One Left Standing, I Don't Want It All, Somewhere Along The Line...

I met him before a Ringo show near Chicago in 2003. A very gracious man.

I like how this channel talks to a lot of interesting figures who don't often get to tell their story.

Paul Carrack is one of the greats, in my not-so-humble opinion. And what is incredible is that he is relatively unknown, while playing essential and important roles in so many hit songs. Wonderful musical offerings from him are hidden like diamonds in the tracks in which he has participated. EVERYONE knows his songs while he remains unknown.

love some of Pauls music whilst some doesn't quite hit the spot. One thing is for sure I am a great fan of the man himself. A genuine, down to earth honest professional with bags of talent.

I saw them live when supporting Celine Dion at Wembley, they were one of the best balanced sound sets Ive ever seen. Silent Running was always my favorite and I have the album, but to be fair Paul Carrack has a unique voice and from Ace to present you know it is him. btw I didnt personally like The living years. but kudos to the guy he is still so capable of bringing out some magic.

Cannot believe Paul could not use “ Living Years” on his album! Paul made that song happen & it became a great hit for M& the M! The Music industry big wigs tycoons are questionable!
