I respect the grind. It’s great seeing you cover so many albums so quickly especially since so much was just immediately dumped out. Love the work ethic Anthony

Something I really like about Shook is that in a lot of ways it recaptures, at least for me, the lightning in a bottle wide eyed wonder that was how fresh, and boundary breaking, the S/T was when it came out. In a lot of ways, for better or worse, Shook encapsulates that commitment to truly unbound rock music, and it's definitely refreshing to hear them not sink into a comfortable gimmick. It's definitely a little long winded, but super fun.

Was disgusting to hear Fantanos rant on how Algeria should still be a French colony.

I ADORE this album. Definitely gonna be one of my favorite albums of the year

This is one of the best albums of the year so far for me.
I'd say you should check this album out, even if you get your recommendations from Anthony, and his above average feelings here discourage you from it. This album is very unique, blending multiple genres like rap, rock, punk and gospel, and the lyrics are very thought-provoking and post-apocalyptic.

I love this album so much. Definitely a 7.5+. Such a great and interesting mix. Having Big Rube narrate was a move!

I sort of knew that Fantano wouldn't dig this too much, with him being on the fence for the single with Billy Woods and Backxwash, and him not being a huge fan of 'There Is No Year' (which I love). I have to admit I do find it overly long - it feels like an extended cut of the record already - but overall I still think it's a really great album.

Green Iris was actually my favorite song from the album but I feel the same way about it on the whole.

You're late with this one, Anthony. I already formed my own opinion and it's a strong 8.

Fantano has been racking up bodies this year. Yo la tango, Algiers, gorillaz, and us girls all deserved better

Cool review, Anthony. I discovered this group from your weekly track round up videos, and I'm glad I did because they are a pretty cool rock group. I can also agree with you, though this album doesn't flow for anything 😅. Still, it's an ok album with some wild production and I think the spoken word on the album is pretty cool as well.

24 hours and still no Gecs review?! I’m dying over here!

Fantano taking points from a leftist band for not quoting Lenin and failing to implement dialectical materialism is understandable I presume.

When's the Alice Longyu Gao review coming out

I think I enjoyed this album a little more than Anthony. Compared to the last album "There is No Year", at least this time they are challenging some aggressive ideas, and most of all, ourselves. It ended up being a chaotic album for sure, but I love seeing them trying to grasp something very new, intense, raw, and exciting. I bought the gold-colored LP from them and I'm totally happy with it.
