Oh my gosh!! I am sorry you didn't find you liked this dress as much as you had hoped. I was ready to comment immediately, as I was going to say you look STUNNING!!! Truly, you look so good in the dress. It is so interesting how we all see things so differently. Great job, as usual. :-)

I think the dress looks very pretty. I love floral prints and the deep lilac is perfect on you. I do actually have an 80s Laura Ashley dress that is 40s style with a drop waist!

Sometimes the simple dresses look so elegant and the style really suits you and the material matches well with the hair ❤❤

Simple dresses take longer to make because you can't hide any defects in the complexity of the dress. I'm glad you took the time to make a piece you can be proud of.

What a wonderful video- Thank you for sharing all of your work, analysis and thoughts! The dress looks beautiful on you, and bonus- it has pockets!!! My regards to Spooky for supervising :) Your Grandmother's fabric is beautiful as well.

Love the buttons you chose for this, they match so nicely.

It’s a shame you aren’t as in love with the dress as you would like to be since it’s such a sentimental fabric choice 😢

I think it counts. Because sometimes when folx know you sew they give you fabric.

The dress is really adorable on you and looks super comfortable. I understand that, for you, it isn’t quite the silhouette you like and may have some disappointment in that. I have had projects that disappointed me where the fabric was precious and I tried to match it up with what I thought would be the perfect match but didn’t end up being the best personal fit for me. You are still learning alteration and grading techniques but did really well.

Love that fabric! It's so pretty! And I agree I don't think free fabric should count in your under 50$ projects

Great job!! 🎉 you can totally make a dress for under $50. Buy fabric & supplies from a thrift or local reuse ♻️ craft store. Or use coupons for a JoAnns ✂️ -they usually have a clearance section to pick from as well.

If you can find a larger matching lace you could add it to the hem! That is so cute!!

I think its very cute. perhaps make a wearable mockup before you use sentimental fabric in future just to make sure you love it. I have made this mistake many times. LOve the cost breakdowns, reallt makes me think about how much sewing costs me. But I get SO much joy out of it I don't mind. I think its ok to class is as an under $50 dress as upcycling items people have at home is really important. and then the cost per wear for that recycled fabric is extremely low. And its much better to upcycle clothes you already own than to dontate or bin.

Beautiful seam finishes Haley! It’s interesting you say that it looks like a 1980s dress. That’s what I was thinking too! I think the washed purple color also lends itself to that era.

I always appreciate how well you explain what you are doing and I love this fabric it's so pretty with your hair! I'm finally sewing on my channel again this month I'm so excited it's not vintage but it's got that cute puff sleeve I'm terrified to try and make lol xx

Very pretty dress, that fabric is gorgeous. Would you consider wearing a belt with the dress? That way you can choose to have a more cinched look xxx
