Something I totally neglected to include in the video: There are universally useful map-specific callouts for places based on the objective for that mode like "Zone, " "Check 1, Check 2, Goal, " "Basket, " or "Right Check, Left Check, Goal." That was supposed to be in the script and I just forgot.

I think this is one of the most helpful guides I’ve seen. If I’m playing something like CSGO, I’m pretty good at making callouts, but when it comes to splatoon, I’m absolutely terrible. Now I just have to memorize the a callouts map like I did with all the csgo maps!

Callouts are strong in competitive games. They help communicate where each player is without needing to take a second to process every message.

So many advanced call outs, when we could simply revert to This Way, Ouch, and Booyah

Absolutely have to comment here to give this video a boost in the algorithm. Everybody needs to know these now exist.

I don't know why I expected the names to be derivations of Woomy and veemo

I am not in any team nor I have experience on communicating with teammates, as english isn't my first language and I speak it horribly. However, I feel that probably starting teams would use only a few words of the zones at first, and then progressively begin to use more words of the areas until they use it all. I cannot imagine learning all the words of all areas in 1 go without previous experience. Probably high level competitive players doesn't have that problem.

Just shared this in all of my Splatoon related Discord servers. Let's do this.

I remember from some Chara vids that he usually just says the general direction or height of enemies, relative to the current frontline, instead of using a lot of these specific words. Often I just hear 'right' or 'left', which means either a sort of plat or a flank, and then I hear 'snipe' for some higher ground. I think I remember him using some of the map-specific locations, or just generally some awkward or small but specific locations that aren't relevant in your everyday Splatoon competitive match

Suggestion: instead of using left/right or our/theirs, try cardinal directions (North, south, east, west) relative to the center and your direction of attack. It makes it more specific and allows for quick reorientation. Ex: if I spot and enemy, it's more useful to say "east of mid" than just "at mid". It tells you more specifically where the enemy is and where you might wanna ambush from.

Thank you so much for this Gem! Communication is one of the things I struggle the most with in this game, so this video is almost as good as if you learned how to do a standing backflip.
