I found C4 integration so difficult until seeing this. You, sir, are awesome!

This totally got me in the exam because I had no idea you had to pull out the 2 factor and expand it out, I spent 2 pages attempting the (u-3)^3 /u by parts because I didnt magically guess to expand it. I hope they don't do something this situational and unfair in June.

My sentiment regarding this problem resonates with what others have said, but not for the reason that they're alluding. I find that this sort of problem requires persistent focus and attention than intelligence, otherwise you'd get punished severely. My sympathies to those with ADHD and other disorders pertaining to concentration.

It's quite easy, it's in the formula book in the C2 section

Hello Mr Exam Solutions,
I was just wondering, if we do the last part in order, it'd be - 2ln3 + 2ln2, and I made the mistake of putting that as - ln36, but why is that incorrect? I get how to get ln9/4, but just so I don't make the mistake again, I'd like to know. Thanks.

Can someone help me, when finding the u value limits, where u = 1 + x^0.5, what about taking the negative square root (i.e. negative 1 and negative 2 instead of 1 and 2)? Why take just the positive root, I'm guessing it makes no difference and it is easier to take positive square root and use u = 3 and u = 2 rather than u = -1 and u = 0.

What the hell? How are we supposed to use the binomial expansion on (u-1)^3?? What a joke
