Thank God for Emily Sonnett. Nightswonger was really struggling. I feel bad for that young player #4 on the Netherlands. She scored her first goal then an own goal that’s gotta test your confidence

Rose is incredible defensively. People definitely don’t appreciate it enough. I think another reason Rose needs to be in the middle of the field is so it’s harder for her to get caught against the sideline. That’s how they were stopping her all game. Two person traps against the sideline.

Becky actually has in depth knowledge and observations about the game. I would like to hear these two on live after every game.

Gonna miss "Unc" At some point I'd like to see Coffee, Rose, J Shaw, Croix Bethune, in a diamond midfield with Triple Espresso in front of them, Dangerous Mix !!

I thought Naomi was fouled and was surprised it wasn't called on that corner kick. Thank you for confirming, Becky. You will be a phenomenal coach if you decide that's what you want. Oh, imagine that ❤‍🔥

Becky would be such an awesome coach!
Sam, can’t you borrow a garment bag from a friend? Or, gasp, buy a garment bag? They aren’t expensive.

Surprising to see the final score. During the first half, Netherlands was mopping the floor with the USWNT

I've followed the WNT since the days when the team was essentially an adjunct of UNC, and I've never seen a braver, more inspiring performance from any GK than what we saw from Alyssa tonight. Superlatives fail me.

Regarding tactical injuries (discussed at around 26 minutes), I thought surely Hayes would be shown yellow for keeping the team huddled up so long. Delaying a restart is specified in the rules as a cautionable offense. Let's start there: treat it as a tactical foul. You can get away with it once, but be careful, because you're at risk of ejection for the rest of the match.

MLS now has rules that if a sub or on-field treatment lasts more than a certain amount of time, a player must wait for a specified period before (re-)entering the game. That might be the next step, if cautions don't work. Of course you can't remove a keeper, but maybe the team has to sacrifice a field player if the keeper's treatment takes too long.

I think the part I'm struggling with as a fan is Emma Sears put a perfect cross in the England game that Lynn Williams didn't get to, and it went through to Alyssa Thompson who had a perfect chance to score and missed it. And then Sears was double-covered the rest of the game and Sears was talked about like she had a bad game (it wasn't her best game and she was overmatched at times by that defense, but if Thompson scored on that cross which was their best scoring chance of that game, Sears suddenly would have been seen as having another assist and having a good game). Yazmeen Ryan lays out a great cross and Lynn puts it in the goal this time. And while Ryan didn't do a whole lot else during the game yesterday, she's seen as having basically another great game for that assist. I think Ryan is very good, but so much perspective changes based on the player who puts the ball in the goal (or doesn't). I was disappointed to not see Sears get a chance to redeem herself from the England game. Would also have liked to have seen more of Sentnor than just the end of the game. She looks like she's very skilled as well.

That Sydney Leroux goal was incredible and I still watch that highlight. She’s such a badass.

The only thing I know is that the midfield needs to be figured out, our forwards need experience like this so these two games were good for them, but we are def not the best team in the world and need a lot of work.
