The primary cause for create of ocean currents though understood by scientists and oceanographers, they are not paying due attention to this point by which we can earn a lot from ocean currents.

The Portuguese were the first to discover the way ocean currents worked back in 1419 when the Azores were found. It is embarrassing and an insult to my culture who braved the massive Oceans for them not even to be mentioned when it was them who first discovered the gyres. you do realize the Portuguese were in Brazil when Columbus was only a child. You need to go to Brazil in order to go to India using the southern Gyre that is what the Portuguese trips did to India. Is history even taught anymore!!!. The Portuguese were in Canada even before the 1500's and that is all due to them understanding the Gyres.
The Pacific Gyres were mostly mapped by Spanish ships after the 1500's.
