Can't imagine under what circumstances Liszt came up with that technique 😭😭

Liszt I think challenged the world with his etudes. He must had been an incredible pianist to play his own works!

Has anyone wished to meet Liszt one time in real life?

The famous "Upside Down Rebounding" technique.

I learned it with right hand over the left first and actually played it near the tempo, then at a similar passage a few pages forward I realised how much easier it is with the left hand over the right, lol.

Perhaps this is what Ravel took inspiration from Liszt on in his toccata

This interesting technique, if I’m not mistaken, is only used a couple of times throughout the piece; without much movement from the hands beyond the position of the chord.

It would be interesting if an entire etude was built using this concept alone, in a fashion similar to Chopin’s etudes and Bach preludes, which built upon the initial concept laid in the first few bars.

There's a video on YT where Katsaris does something very analogous in the opening of Chopin op. 53.

Yea, I started practicing this and it is super weird backward high fiving your own hand.

It's not as difficult as it seems, it requires proper technique and it flows, but the second page is a nightmare that's a waste of time.

Merci pour la technique ! Étant donné que je travaille seul (pas de prof), un aurais aimé savoir si tu as la partition avec les doigtés ?

Liszt used that in Reminiscences de Puritains too.
