Feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and lost controle with your T1D? Read this 💙
Having diabetes is a full-time job. It never stops and it can be very overwhelming. The amount of discipline it takes to live and manage T1D is incredibly high. Multiple injections a day, pro-actively thinking about your day and planning food and activity, the constant anxiety what your BG is doing in the background, the fear of going low, … it’s a lot.
Up until last year diabetes was a by-product of who I was. I didn’t own it nor was I in control of it. That completely changed. I was afraid of taking my T1D out in public because of what other people would think because it’s still not perceived as “normal” today. Let me tell you here and now that I more and more start to see diabetes as a superpower. We have our body actually telling us how we feel and you can do something about it! If you feel off, it’s likely diabetes related which means you can turn this around with the right mindset. Believe in it.
If you’re a type 1 diabetic I want you to acknowledge that what you’re going through is incredibly hard and the fact you show up every day shows courage and discipline. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Keep on going and don’t give up! Don’t let diabetes be a by-product of who you are, own it. Become one with it and use it to the fullest of your capabilities. You don’t quit, you can’t. You can do it 💪🏼
