Mali hotel attack: 3 Chinese citizens killed, 4 rescued

Three executives with the China Railway Construction Corporation were among the hostages killed in Friday's terror attack on a luxury hotel in the Malian Capital Bamako. China's Foreign Ministry has expressed deep condolences to the families of those killed. The three Chinese victims are Zhou Tianxiang,Wang Xuanshang, general manager and deputy general manager of the company's international division, and Chang Xuehui, general manager of its West Africa division. Spokesman Hong Lei said the Chinese Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Mali had activated an emergency response mechanism to coordinate rescue work. He said the Malian government and the international community had made great efforts to rescue the hostages. Hong Lei expresses China's condemnation of the atrocity. He said the Chinese government will continue to work with the international community to protect the safety and rights of overseas Chinese citizens and institutions.
