Front Marker Projection on Bikes in London

I really liked this feature of the bikes I saw all over London. Like many major cities, London has rental bikes that are based around kiosks, one-time payments, and (I presume) an app.

The power pack on these bikes, in addition to supporting the on-board computer and GPS, also drives the nighttime lights. One of which is this neat green "cycle" projection out front of the rider, seen on the pavement.

Clever! I imagine this helps dramatically reduce collisions at intersections, since it offers drivers advance warning of a rider on a perpendicular path.

So that changes anywhere you go into a "certified" bike lane? As the Brits would say: brilliant!

the orientation of those lights make no sense to me. It projects the symbol of the bike for what I assume is to show drivers or pedestrians a warning. However the light is "upright" for the rider, not the onlooker, meaning that the reaction to what it is would take longer, negating any advantage it allows. So really, they should have turned those projections upside down to the rider for quicker recognition and safety of not only the cyclist, but pedestrians and motorists.
