What she does so marvellously is seamlessly take those layers away and take the audience into her confidence in a way that perhaps Lady Thiang seldom gets a chance to do. Then she builds herself back up but lets her fragility shine through just a bit. This is such a sublime example of how you build and sell a character through song! Brava

Deanna's voice just makes everything soar. This song is so underrated in "The King and I" and this actually reminds me of my dad. He's a tough hard guy. But he's a hard worker and a great father. He's supportive, protective and knows he'll do anything for our family. I think of my dad when I hear this and he truly is wonderful.
