I have the original Ghastly Gibus, I didnt get the original link but just dominated someone in the 2009 event, was so excited to see it upgrade each year and was disappointed when they stopped adding new versions.

What people fail to mention is that the gibus is one of the two last items in the game that still provide an equipment set buff

Equip a gibus and the pyro vision goggles at the same time for a sizeable buff to any merc's underestimation stat, letting you approach and dominate tryhards much more easily

And additionally the Ghostly Gibus is just one of the styles for the Ghastly Gibus made into its own hat. I guess they felt anyone who's played after October 2012 doesn't deserve that degree of customization.

Honestly it’s really cool to have a game mechanic like that that spreads organically player to player, I wish they started with a smaller pool though.

I have the Ghastlierest Gibus. Im not a true veteran as I traded for this one, but I have been playing since before the bots plagued TF2, and I see anyone who stayed around despite the bots a True Veteran.

Got the OG 2009, was confused at first when they renamed it, once I saw the description I thought, oh cool they upgrade it. Wish they gave us options to customize it with the various styles.
