The 8 Cognitive Functions

Do you know how much love and respect I have for all 8 cognitive functions simply because they are what allow us to thrive as aliens, I mean humans, on this earth? A ton.

This video is NOT intended to give you a textbook definition of each function, but to paint you a picture of the functions and their attributes to help further your understanding of them. Yes there are plenty of anecdotes. Yes I'm sure you relate to a function thats not yours. Yes everyone does everything at some point.

See you in the comments fam!

i'm an Fe user that admires Fi. Sometimes when you're an Fe user and you're trying to make people happy it can feel like you are sacrificing a bit of authenticity, at least from my experience. I like how Fi users are basically like "i'm gunna be me. If you like me you like me, if you don't you don't." I think that is beautiful.

That final advice is so INTJ, always trying to be an independent master of all

As an INTP, This is greatly useful. I'm trying to have this ability to type or read people quickly and understand them.

When you explained Ni - that hits the spot. Whenever I do something my energy always go towards an end result I formed in my mind and then proceed to create a system how to get there. People always ask me how I think the way I do and you just explained it wow.

Amazing video. I would call it a "psychology hack". As an INTJ, i constantly struggle with Fe too. I feel like I am too selfish. Whenever I try to emulate it, people say I am constipated with feelings 😅. Even if I try to do something for someone, I subconsciensly know that I am doing it only for myself (which I guess is Te, and it can't be helped).

I personally think that Fe is very altruistic. To care for someone without a regard for yourself and no expectation in return is extremely noble.

As an infp one of the strenghs of a strong Fi (and hence a thoroughly mapped out internal emotional landscape (personality hacker language)) is that it is so easy to see what other individuals are feeling at any given point.
It is kind of a hidden superpower since you (in principle) can correct your behavior and steer a situation/a mood in the direction you want.

I can talk to any person (unless my Fi strongly suggest otherwise)

Very good video as it was mostly based on people you know. As an INFP I thought I'd explain Fi to you.

Fi is never under conscious control. It's a supervisory faculty. It simply sends #positive feeling/#negative feeling in response to what you say or do... or what you observe someone else say or do.

In Fi doms this becomes #strong positive feeling#/#strong negative feeling# which is frequently distressing to the person. In some situations Fi also cuts off the motivation to act.

Eventually, through vast inner experience Fi doms become very able to soothe negative human emotions.

But Fi is not generally appreciated and it takes time to learn how to negotiate with this tyrant function and find a way to offer value to society.

I really like this video, giving real life senerios rather than the definitions, in which definitions seems to box someone with one category and not the others.

This was a really concise breakdown. I'd love for you to dive into the Ne/Ni divide, or even the ENFP/INTJ relationship

The way you talk about Se makes me admire and value it more. I won’t lie, I tend to be very jealous of and/or annoyed by Se users and end up wanting nothing to do with the function (immature, I know)

Great video. I liked your description of Ne and Si, because I'm still trying to figure those functions out.
For the past few months, I have been trying to work on Fe, which is really important for INTJs to master. Unless the INTJ wants to avoid 'the people'. A lack of Fe will mean INTJs will need to work twice as hard as other people to achieve their Ni goals.

I was speaking to an INFJ and ENFJ yesterday. When people are in trouble, I usually give them the Ni death stare (trying to solve their problem) before (Te) giving them the solution, which apparently, does not go down well with some people. The ENFJ was laughing, saying I should first say, 'that must be hard for you' and 'show emotion' when saying it. I was like thinking, 'that is amazing'. The INFJ added, another good Fe line, 'you look troubled, is there anything I can do?'. Really impressed by Fe hero and Fe parent. I think MBTI is really good for self development. For INTJs, the Fe polar, is the function to work on.

What’s really interesting about Ni to Ni communication is that me (ENFJ) and my INFJ best friend usually find ourselves checking each other’s understanding in a conversation by making another Ni-analogy instead of trying so hard to paraphrase. Lol

It's nice to see someone, who know the functions and recognise the types by functions, not stereotypes. It's really rare.

Thank you SO MUCH for this video. It really helped and as a ISFP, you totally nailed the Fi about being authentic. My brother is a ESFJ so thank you so much for this. :)

I’ve had enough of my silly Ni. I’d like some Se, please

Nicely done, you've been fair to each function and without the bs in MBTI groups
ISTP here and been 3 years studying them

very interesting. i've not heard this described this way. usaf called me an intj during my investigation for a ts-sci clearance. i had no idea what that meant. i was told it's very rare. when i went to university after service, i had a professor that i learned a HUGE amount from, and he explained all of this to me as a very young man. it can be hard being in intj if you don't sort it out in your own head, which he helped me do.

As an INTJ, I nearly closed the video when you warned there would be anecdotes!
