100k mile 2003 svt cobra shortblock very heavy carbon . i tried multiple methods to clean them up
wd40, seafoam,acetone... this was the the best method i came up. please do this only at your own risk.

Very nice, I like to push wax string between the piston and wall before starting on a piston top. It ensures zero carbon get down on the ring. You would be surprised when you pull it out at the end what it prevented.

I prefer a brass brush that attaches to a drill. Requires less elbow grease. If the wd40 isn’t working you can spray a steady but light(so you dont waste it) stream of carb cleaner with one hand while holding the drill brush with the other. It cuts through carbon. Make sure it’s actually brass and not brass-coated steel. You don’t want to scratch your pistons at all.

For better results use acetone with Transmission fluid.

I used a mix of ATF Seafoam and Engine Degreeser.

100 percent shade tree all the microfibers in cyl wall 😮 can you say rebuild .

This job would’ve gone twice as fast if you would have used a real carburetor cleaner on the carbon on top of the pistons… but it did turn out nice…
