Paula Deen had a restaurant in a casino in Mississippi. There was a desert called Elvis Presley Gooey Butter Cake. Being from STL and knowing the history of this cake I emailed Paula Deen and made it clear Elvis had nothing to do with this cake.

This was one of my grandma's recipes that my family loved when she made. She passed away a year ago almost to the day and I miss her so much. The only differences in her recipe is 2 eggs in the crust portion and no butter in the top portion. Truly a delicious dessert, I’m going to make it again.

I use melted butter and it makes things so much easier to mix. And it looks the same as yours.
