How to install Oracle Application Express (Apex) .
Oracle Apex is a low-code web application development framework.
Plan your installation: This video offers an overview of the steps required to install Oracle Application Express. During the planning phase, you should also determine whether to install a full development environment or a runtime environment.

A full development environment provides complete access to the Application Builder environment to develop applications. A runtime environment is an appropriate choice for production implementations in which you want to run applications that cannot be modified. To learn more, see "About the Oracle Application Express 19.1 Runtime Environment".

Verify installation requirements: "Oracle Application Express Installation Requirements" describes the minimum requirements that your system must meet before you install the software.

Install the software: As described in Figure 1-1, the required installation steps depend upon:

How you install the Oracle Application Express (apex). Available options include downloading a ZIP file from Oracle Technology Network (OTN), or using the version of Oracle Application Express that installs with Oracle Database 11g or later (19c).
The installation procedure of oracle apex 18.1 is the same as 19.1

Which HTTP server you decide to use. Available options include the embedded PL/SQL gateway or Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql.

Very nice and simple explanation. I managed to complete the installation. It also opens up the page I am getting the below error: There is a problem with your environment because the Application Express files have not been loaded. Please verify that you have copied the images directory to your application server as instructed in the Installation Guide. In addition, please verify that your image prefix path is correct. Your current path is /i/ (it should contain both starting and ending forward slashes, such as the default /i/). Use the SQL script reset_image_prefix.sql if you need to change it.


Any idea how to solve it.

he missed a command at 6:23 or so.

After he types:

ALTER session set container=ORCLPDB;

he then types:

@APEXINS.SQL SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/

Before @APEXINS.SQL SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/ enter the following:

ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ WRITE;

Then run the @APEXINS.SQL SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/ command

hi i di everything step by step and worked fine. at the end however i write localhost etc in my internet explorer browser and it wont work just keeps saying waiting for localhost

Hello, thank you for your tutorial it was really helpful. I got it to work but after i restarted my laptop, i could not connect to Apex interface on localhost . Have been searching for solution but couldnt find it. Maybe you could help?

very nicely explained to install Apex 19.2. However, can not login to the localhost:8080/apex. It says this site can not be reached. I also tried Nilay Paul's suggestions. ANONYMOUS is open, container name shows ORCLPDB in READ WRITE NO mode. Also tried 127.0.0.1 in place of localhost.
Previously tried connections with ORDS but then uninstalled APEX from ORCLPDB and now reinstalled as per this vdo. How to resolve localhost login problem ?
