Farewell to Pope Benedict

Friends, Pope Benedict XVI has passed away and entered into his eternal reward. He was a renowned scholar and brilliant leader. He sought first and foremost to heed God’s calling, and as such, his legacy is remarkable.

It is obvious that as priest, bishop, theologian, and Pope, he was a man of faith. But it is perhaps equally important to point out that he was one of the great defenders of reason on the world stage.

Pope Benedict XVI had an extraordinary capacity to listen to all perspectives and then to find an illuminating synthesis, and we are all better for it.

He was such a blessing to the world. Not many people are confident to hold firm in their faith these days. I agree, he was not the extremist that the media liked to paint.

I will trust in God. Even though it’s difficult, I will continue to walk with faith and not by sight. Please pray for me. My husband passed away years ago. I’m all alone. I’m a single mother. Both of my sons are autistic, they require a lot from me because they are non verbal. Every month is a struggle, to not end up on the streets. I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus, and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I wish I could go back but the mandate is still in place for hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid all employees must have covid 19 vaccine. I get harassed constantly and mocked for sharing my testimony and for asking for prayers but prayers are all I want and I also want to bring awareness of how vaccine mandates are ruining many ppls lives. I’m now waitressing and I’m so thankful but not making nearly enough to get by. I’m tired of struggling putting food on the table it’s so discouraging. But even as I’m put down and mocked because of my situation. I still have faith that our Heavenly Father will provide he has THIS FAR! Faith over fear. Please pray for me and my boys! God bless! 🥰

We have the same birthday on April 16! My brother is also named benedict. Godbless him. Hope he prays for me and blesses all of my past, present and future works. Hope he blesses my life and sculpts me into a blessing for others...

May he be canonized someday. I remember being in elementary school when he became pope. It’s crazy to see him gone. Pray that God receives him well.

The part that struck me the most was your comment that he was truly in love with the risen Lord Jesus Christ. I can only hope that somebody can say that about me when I die.

I can’t help but compare pope Benedict to St. Joseph, who’s name he carried. Loyal, in the background, fulfilling the task given to him by God to the end. And yet so strong in his humility and faithfulness to the Church. I can imagine he must have suffered so much because of all that’s happening in our Church. Because when you love, you suffer. A true father and shepherd. I feel grateful for his life and happy that he finally comes face to face with the Lord he loved so much and can receive his crown from Him. Rest in peace!
