Which is your favorite build "Boost" from 2021? Anything I did that you would do differently? Should we continue this series in 2022? Let me know what you think!

I really like this kind of content on YouTube, where he respectfully corrects what is wrong on parts.

Go on lad! You just earned a subscriber here.

Also, would like to have my first custom PC! Sometime I will comment the specs here.

i love these boost my build vids. They help me recalibrate my internal PC value system. It’s so easy to get sucked into hype machines and components and forget what is really sacrificed to buy a ‘hot’ component. When i built my current PC i’m early ‘21 i thought a 3070 gpu was just too much x pensive and instead got a 3060, now reanalysing the build with a Jason-eye i can see i could have reallocated cpu-case-mobo $$ and easily afforded the expensive gpu. I have realised over the year that the 3060 can’t quite utilise my 1440P monitor while the 5600x cpu is coasting most of the time.

On the first build if you must have a optics drive the Fractal Design focus G White ATX case has two 5.25 slots and it is a great case. check it out if you're not going to use a external drive.

Random question but what board would you recommend for a 5700G? I'm stuck between a ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming II or a MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK Gaming. Wifi capabilities are not necessary. I chose those two because i found some good reviews from them, I'm leaning more towards the Tomahawk but I also keep hearing that MSI has buggy items.

You mentioned the Alder Lake 12th Gen Intel CPU's aren't easy to work with. Could you perhaps make a video about them explaining how hard it is to work on them and how to troubleshoot stuff? Also how long do you reckon the issues will last as you said it's getting better day by day?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jason, thank you for the very informative videos.

I was wondering what your opinion of what I should do? I built my first pc over 5 years ago and was looking to maybe buy a new one or upgrade my current set up. I would like to run triple A games at 1080p at 144 fps at moderate to high settings (ex: Call of Duty Warzone). My current build struggles to do this and run Discord and gameplay capture at the same time. My current build has always had audio issues from time to time that I think has to do with my audio codec. My budget is about $2, 500. I have a preference towards Intel cpus, Asus motherboards/bios, and nvidia gpus.

I was excited to try and do a new Intel 12th gen build but got turned off by gpu availability and ddr5 prices/availability. I agree with you and others that ddr5 is not worth it now, but I feel bad putting money into a new system and not being able to upgrade the ram once ddr5 improves and becomes more affordable. But maybe that is bad reasoning at least when it comes to ram. This made me think should I just be upgrading my current build and or wait for a better gpu market and or amds new cpus, since I could probably get by on my current build for a bit longer. Thank you for the help.

Warning for the arctic P12s, I like them enough but they have this odd resonance sound that can be annoying

I think I have watched all of this series. I really love it!
I learned a lot as well, now I was able to save $200-300 because of watching this series. I'm building a Ryzen 5 5600x + Rtx 3060. I was able to snag a SRP priced rtx 3060.

It's fun going back to these older Boost My Build episodes and seeing how the series and the pc building market have evolved over time!

i'd rather have a 5.25 bay and a internal Blu Ray Rom Drive because Externals are bad overtime to ruin ur media u care about if it gets worn out had it happened before and i hate External optical drives with a passion

First one: I ran into the exact same problem with my build in terms of a case with an optical drive. I did not want an external because it would just be more clutter...I wound up repurposing my old case because after 30 hours of research I couldn't find one that was better. Frustrating.

CPU - i5-12600k,

CPU Cooler - Not sure but I want a watercooler with good argb,

GPU - RTX 3080 EVGA FTW3 ULTRA GAMING,

MOTHERBOARD - GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4,

RAM - G.SKILL TRIDENT Z NEO RGB (2x16) 3600mhz CL16,

SSD - A Good 1TB M.2 SSD;

PSU - A 850W one that does not burn LMAO but is really good overall,

Case - Maybe the Lian LI Lancool II RGB MODEL

if you could tell me wich components i should replace or add or if its all great i would really appreciate it! And congrats on the 100k
