Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC 'Art' lens review (with samples)

So many people have been asking for this, so here it is! I liked this lens a lot, despite a couple of problems, and I think it could be really great for a lot of people...as well as looking really cool ;-)

I have been having since 3 months and this piece of glass is absolutely stunning. i am very happy. Not only super sharp, but fast focus and precise let alone bright. It works as a 50mm in full frame so the perfect lens for all purposes.

Great review! I can only say it confirms my own experience with this fantastic little lens on the 60d and 5d. I'd just like to add that the colors are absolutely fantastic compared to the 15-85, because of the way this lens renders colors it's become just about my favourite lens!

Thank you for the review. I just bough the lens and it is outstanding on Pentax K3-ii. It dose have some of the purple fringing when wide open but it is sharp even when wide open and in low light the purple is not a problem . The purple glow is not present when the light is not as bright so I suspect that it could be simply too much light getting on the sensor.

Very nice review, and I also liked that you added alternatives if you want more sharpness or range for a higher price.  It's good to know of other options, including cheaper alternatives to higher-priced ones.

Christopher, what do you think is better in quality and sharpness: Canon 24mm F/2.8 APS-C or this sigma 30mm? Does Lightroom removes this chromatic aberrations?

I own both 30mm f/1.4 and 18-35mm f/1.8, I must say these are very sharp, producing superb lovely bokeh effect and considerably reasonable priced lenses.

So much better than y Canon lenses, expensive and not up to the competition as in performance. (Excluding the "L" lense)

This just arrived today from Ebay.. Element was clean but I decided to touch it up a bit. OH Lordy! Because of the way the front lens it made, it makes it a pain to clean. After 20 mins I finally got all the smudges off that I had created, lol!! The UV filter came on the same day as the lens. I RAN to the mailbox to get it so I can cap that front element! Hopefully I won't have to touch it up anytime in the near future!! Whew!!

Great lens. I didn't get to use it enough before switching to mirrorless. I didnt like it as much adapted. The sigma 30mm for Sony and MFT also got Amazing reviews.

What's the difference between this, and the Sigma 30mm F1.4 contemporary. Yes I know the art series is higher quality, but what is the difference really?

I'm interested in shooting portraits and street photography, was debating if I should buy the Canon 50 mm or this sigma 30 mm, right now I'm using the Canon 600d body. thanks for the help and the great video!!

The CA problem really scares me off. I am looking for something that is able to provide me an equivalent 50mm on my 70D. This is the best lens considering its focal length and multiply it by 1.6, however, well, the chromatic aberration is too strong while having the aperture wide-open. It seems I have to look for another one.
