La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid used to be my holy grail, so I was worried learning it was reformulated. Is the La Roche Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 SPF 50+ still as comfortable? Does it wear as good on my mature, combination, acne-prone skin? And why did they reformulate anyway?
Let's see.

As doctor passionate about skin care that delivers results and about well aging, I want to help you quickly and efficiently pick a skin care regime that works, by explaining the science behind skin and by sharing quick product reviews.
I am a big believer that creating a skincare routine that targets your specific concerns is not a matter of your budget. There are many great affordable brands out there: The Inkey List, Good Molecules, Geek & Gorgeous or pixi skincare to name a few of my favorites, and if you know how to combine them, you are well on your way to healthy and happy skin.
Healthy and happy skin does not mean "flawless" - whatever that might be. I have been struggling with acne, hyperpigmentation and postinflammatory erythema (PIH and PIE) for most of my adult life, and it took me a while to figure out that gentle is key. I went through a retinol damaged skin barrier, acne flare ups and sun damage until I finally reached my happy place: With Tretinoin, sunscreen and of course a red lipstick!

Hmmm I think tinted version is for people with darker skin tone. Because the tinted really works on me, while the usual version made my face looks like I'm wearing white powder on my face.

This is the review I was waiting for. The product seems promising. Not sure how it will work as a daily sunscreen, but will definitely try it out.

I don’t really understand why French brands make their tinted products so dark. To be fair, they could do with 3-5 shades but since the product doesn’t leave a white cast, having a tinted version isn’t the most necessary. If people want the iron oxides, for the theoretical, unquantifiable HEV protection, they are only accommodating for a narrow range of light medium with orange undertones skin

I enjoy both versions of this product....I layer the tinted version on top.... Good protection... Tested it many times. .. IF you wonder about the shade.. treat it slowly...layer it slowly until you reach a color that is "suitable" for your skin tone, it is never perfect.... Some protection is better than nothing

I felt this a bit shinnier and longer to set in vs the previous version. I still love it though, it's my default when I feel I'll have more exposure.

Using it for over a decade now, the older formulas and the new one ♥️ Though, Eucerin ones (particularly Photoaging one) have improved their formulas and texture. Alternating between those two.

hey Dr Anne, I recently started researching LRP sunscreens and it seems that they have the most innovative and broad filters! However, I dont understand why reviewers on Youtube dont mention or focus on the fact that alcohold denathol is the second ingredient in most of the sunscreens of LRP? And isnt it that if alcohol is the second, that means that the amount of alcohol is very high? Also, doesnt, alcohol denat. damage skin barrier ? Curious about your thoughts of it!:)

Thank you Dr Anna! I'm still using my Anthelios 30 but when it's done I want to try the tinted 50+. I did notice that some if not many La Roche Posay products contain Alcohol Denat. and that scares me a little bit because so many people say it's very drying when used on the long term. Do you think I should worry about the alcohol denat. in these sunscreens?

Hi Dr Anne I really wish I could use this, but my rosacea and eczema prone skin hates the chemical spf's from LRP - even the baby ones are not tolerable on the face, but can be used on the body for me. I struggle with using "chemical" filters tbh, but I seem to tolerate Ultrasun on an occasional basis and use it for days I will have more than incidental exposure (I use mineral spf most days for that reason). I also struggle with a high amount of alcohol in spf's, although I understand their purpose in these products eg better dry down, penetration and spread etc. This does seem to be causing a fair bit of excitement in the spf market, but as with most of the more hyped spf's isn't something I can use. I do wish I could (as they offer more protection than my mineral spf can), but I need to use what works for me. I am glad that those who loved the older version aren't disappointed in this new version, as often reformulations can be very different in texture and performance. Best wishes.

Fortunate for us consumers from the USA Eucerin has come out with a line of beautiful and affordable sunscreens! We because of non caring politicians are not as advanced as Europe and Asia on sunscreens!

Thanks, Dr for that review. Just discover your channel! I love the LRP sunscreen it’s perfect for my oily skin. However, it feels like just a simple SPF without benefits (No Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid…) Am I right? is it really moisturizing? Thank you in advance ☺️

La Roche Posay always seem to come out well in Sunscreen reports but unfortunately I will never try them because of their and their parent company, L'Oreal's lack of cruelty free status, but that is my personal choice I accept. Dr Anne Is their a relative easy way to compare the different UVA measuring systems, PA, PPD, "++++", "*" etc. Is each system adopted a choice of the company, the rules of the country of manufacture, the rules of the country in which it is sold or another option??? I can appreciate that a product with more "+'s" or "*'s " is better than one with less, but is 5 "+'s" better or worse than 5"*'s" or are they not able to be compared like that at all even in the loosest sense? Confusion rules, in my eyes at least!
