Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance ASA Firewall

Firewall is fireproof wall to protect from flames. In networking, firewall protects our inside/ private network from outside/public network. ASA is a Cisco product to act as a firewall for our networks. Cisco ASA 5500 Series is based on Cisco PIX 500, Cisco IPS and Cisco VPN Series Concentrators. Application-aware firewall, SSL and IPsec VPN, IPS, antivirus, antispam, antiphishing, NAT and ACL.
Firewall can be a dedicated device or device with software. As per policy on ASA, hosts from inside network can initiate a connection to outside network. Hosts from outside network can not initiate a connection to inside network. For inside network user, the firewalls monitors the state of the connection/ session. In case, the inside network wants to share some services (Servers) with outside network as well. DMZ can be accessed both by the inside network and outside network. Logical VLANs are configured, and physical ports are assigned to VLANs. Inside network, outside network and DMZ are defined by security levels.
