Awesome job Ivon! One of the things one must remember when helping others declutter, whether your teens/children, other family or friends or strangers, is they are not YOU. So be respectful of what they have and what THEY want to declutter, just because you may mot see the usefulness or beauty in something does not mean they don’t see the value to THEM. Be encouraging not discouraging, be supportive not negative.

Your daughter is lovely. She's at that wonderful point of maturing as a young woman while still being a playful teenager. Fun, fun, fun! She did a great job of cleaning and decluttering.

What a phenomenal job Ivon and Mom🥰. As an empty Nester, This just gave me all the warm fuzzies. Ivon is truly such a joy to watch whether she’s helping her parents by cleaning and cooking in the kitchen, so willingly sharing her engaging smile and hard work ethic with us to sweetly rediscovering some of her childhood memories as well as playfully shooing Leo and cleaning her sister’s hamster’s cage! How do you manage to speak so loving and understanding of these teenagers that most people are simply annoyed by? Wow! That is auch a wonderful perspective, I think I’ll learn a little from you 🙂

Karen, this was one huge mess. You and Ivon, worked so well together and she got rid of a ton of stuff. So very sweet of her to clean the hampster cage. She was very thorough.

I love the calm atmosphere of how you worked together! Great example to both moms and daughters! I found the clothing budget to be super helpful with my kids, too! Also, everyone does their own laundry starting at about age 12. The sense of responsibility really kicks in at that time and they are so proud to be doing an adult job from start to finish.

Yvonne did such a good job decluttering and tidying her things in the bedroom. It looked so neat and organised afterwards. I think you were so kind, Karen to spend that time assisting her in such a non-judgemental way. You have such a great relationship with your children which is lovely to witness. You must be so proud that the two girls cooperate so well together when sharing their room too. Btw the guinea pig is so cute, she reminds me of two I had as a child. Leo was a great support alongside you to Yvonne, creating a fun atmosphere during this laborious process.

I’ve been searching forever for a teen room declutter and they’re surprisingly hard to find! I’m never sure how to handle the situation lol
My two girls share a room (pre-teen and teen) and their room often looks like they just throw things all over the place randomly just for fun 😂
I love your approach to helping her. You were so supportive and helpful and respectful of her own approach. I tend to get very frustrated with my girls and how over the top messy their room gets and it happens so fast and seems so unnecessary!
This was super refreshing and helpful.
It’s inspiring to see a positive way to deal with it and to know I’m not alone in being a parent to teen girls 😂❤ 🙏

I loved this video! Watching this brought back such sweet memories of decluttering with my teens. My middle daughter, especially, when she was feeling overwhelmed would want me to sit in her room with her and fold her clothes while she decluttered. She would share with me how much it helped to have order in her room. If it is ever appropriate I would so enjoy a video on how God planned for your family to come together. God has grown our family through adoption, we have a Chinese daughter and a Korean son as well as a birth daughter. Many of my extended family have also adopted children. I appreciate you very much!
