What a PHYSICAL Weekly Shonen Jump looks like!

I buy physical copies sometimes but I prefer reading it on mobile. The quality is generally better and it's easier to scroll and navigate between panels.

I have two of my old Shonen Jump magazines when they were still printing them to localize them in the US. They are about that thick as well, and came with things like posters and bookmarks and whatnot that you could pull out of them! I really miss being able to get physical Shonen Jump in the states because there was something just so fun about reading it that way cover to cover.

I heard somewhere that manga magazines are really low-budget and most people (in Japan) throw them away. The quality stuff is usually in the tankobon volumes.

When i had the opportunity to get a copy of shonen jump and a similar shojo edition, they both came with extra little favors. The boys version had a double sided poster (to unfold) and the girls one had a nice plastic coaster.

I used to buy Shonen Jump when Barnes & Noble sold physical copies like 15 years ago. I do miss that

I'm also buying it (also the Akane Bahashi cover one from Nov 2023) just to feel how it feels to read it from the magazine.

And I buy it from Kinokuniya in my country (Indonesia) and not from Japan, and kinda surprised that it's only IDR 70k (or ± 4 US Dollar which is the same as the price for a two portion meal)

I think the way it is so they can cut cost and make the magazine much cheaper since the magazine demographic is highschooler and they dont have much pocket money.

This reminded me that i have a few second hand mags of Manga mania from the early 2000s (1998-2006 roughly)
If i stack them all on top of each other i might rival the Shonen jump mag

It would be impossible to collect these in Brazil. Books are almost 100 BRL in this inflation.
