Former Delain singer and songwriter CHARLOTTE WESSELS will release her first solo endeavor, Tales From Six Feet Under, on September 17, 2021 via Napalm Records. Unable to perform live due to the pandemic, Wessels spent most of last year buried in her Six Feet Under home studio, writing, performing and producing an eclectic wealth of songs. Tales From Six Feet Under offers her favorites out of the bunch. All instruments and vocals on these ten intimate and honest songs were performed or programmed by Wessels herself - except for the exciting collaboration with Alissa White-Gluz on the haunting track "Lizzie" - showcasing the multifaceted nature of Wessels, including her exceptional ability to express the most sincere feelings and emotions within her art.

Tales From Six Feet Under is an electrifying collection with gems ranging from melancholic indie pop to synth-infused rock. The record features Wessels’ rendition of Goth classic “Cry Little Sister”, as well as a beautiful synergy of the stunning voices of CHARLOTTE WESSELS and Alissa White-Gluz on “Lizzie”. It also debuts a song in Wessels’ native language with the Dutch rocker “Afkicken”. The mesmerizing and haunting “Victor” was released in April this year along with a visually palpable music video. “Soft Revolution” showcases the artist right where the magic happens; in her Six Feet Under studio. The song - part sweet sorrow, part soaring call to action - is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

The song and video for "Victor" are inspired by 1856 poem 'Demain, dès l'aube' by famous French writer Victor Hugo (Les Misérables, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame) The poem narrates the writer's walk to the grave of his daughter Leopoldine; she tragically drowned a few years prior during a boat trip, while she was pregnant. In this video, Victor and Leopoldine reunite.

Fourth track from my new original album "Darken the Shadow". The world's first NFT album. Next track drops in 2 weeks.

Following up on their critically acclaimed EP, Hunter’s Moon, released via Napalm Records earlier this year, DELAIN have stunned fans around the world once again with their brand new single, “Burning Bridges”. Accompanied by an emotive new video, the song highlights the spectacular vocal talents of Dutch vocalist Charlotte Wessels, and once again, the undeniable atmospheric range of DELAIN’s music solidified by their potent previous releases.

I am finally on patreon!
I can't wait to show you what I've been working on!

Seeing her cry, speak of the trauma she endured with the Delain struggle breaks my heart and gives me great pride in her strength to persevere and find her own path to joy and freedom that she’s never had before. Proud patron since the beginning and love this human being more than I can say 💓

I went to see Delain in Manchester, England, in early 2020, just befor the pandemic ruined everything... It was actually the day Apocalypse & Chill was released. It was a wonderful atmosphere, culminating in one of the most uplifting moments I've experienced at a concert. Just after they finished probably their most well known song, The Gathering, the crowd erupted and didn't stop cheering for what felt like 5 minutes. Charlotte was so overwhelmed that she said her mouth was hurting from smiling :-) Delain forged a great career with their very accessilbe style of metal and have obviously gained some adoring fans along the way. I look forward to listning to Charlotte's new album and hope Delain can reach the same heights without her.

I cried along with her when she spoke about her frustration on not being acknowledged for her own songs...

Well, as an old fan myself, I always knew that she was deeply involved in the songwriting process, in addition to giving everything she had to perform them, whether in studio or on stage...

I agree that it's too soon to think about joining (or forming) another band, but I do hope her work sounds a bit more metal in the future. If it doesn't, that's not exactly a problem for me, since I'll be a fan of her work till the rest of my days.

I have been so sad that Charlotte isn't in Delain anymore because she's my favorite female vocal of all time in metal and pretty much in general, but I wish her all the happiness and I'm glad she's doing her own thing where she feels respected and in control. If Delain wasn't healthy for her anymore then she made the right decision.

What a beautiful human Charlotte Wessels is. I am referring more to the way she carries herself than her physical appearance. I really love her singing voice.

I'm so glad now in hindsight that I managed to see Delain live right before the pandemic started! It came as such a shock to hear about the bandmembers going their separate ways so it's good to hear Charlotte talk about it. Honestly she's more than big enough to go solo or run her own band so I think that while she's understandably emotional about the breakup I think in the long-run it will turn out for the best.

Hands-down my favorite singer in the subgenre called "symphonic metal". She's multi-talented, really pretty, a good role-model, and respectful of her fans.

I never got to see Delain or Charlotte Wessels in concert but if they ever come to Seattle, dude I'm there!

Charlotte is a giant. I've got her album on preorder and I hope I can see her live again at some point when we get this pandemic under control. I don't know how the Delain name can continue without her. That makes no sense to me.

Thank you Belgian and Charlotte for doing this interview! Charlotte, I have loved Delain ever since I heard them, but for me, it has been YOUR voice that set them apart. I love hearing your complete voice through these new songs that you have created.

WOW!
Where to begin.First off the questions we’re very good and asked with a lot of care.Charlotte is a amazing artist. She has shown her fans so much of her real life since Six Feet Under opened.Yes, I wanted to know about what song’s she was going to make, they are different, but Beautiful, Powerful, and it’s Charlotte feeling free to do other things with the song’s that she has written. Bravo!
I for one can’t wait to hear more from Charlotte.❤️

I am thrilled with what shes doing. To embark on her very own journey brings life to her being . So fortunate for her. And yes I had a tear as she did. I find metal artist who do covers and solo often change genres. And I find the are really good songs. It makes them happy it seems. I have much more appreciation for this brilliant woman now. Your wonderful interview showed me how guarded but how real she really is. It gets no better. Great I interview of a great woman. I may just watch again.
