I love how Mitch calls it like it is in BS government bait and switch done with our money. in service of education. Also how the job losses now is even more than 2009. This are bad and getting worse!

I heard that the WEF would like to have robots/ AI replace teachers and support staff and no more jobs for these people in the schools. If people would like to lose their jobs all they have to do is vote for Kamala and Tim Walz because this party totally agrees 100% with the WEF. Afterall, people will get what they vote for especially if all critical thinking skills are just about diminished/ gone. 🤔

They have jacked up our property taxes to keep the teachers employed. So where's the extra money gone???? And the worse part of it, teachers get paid peanuts. So where's the bulk of the money going??

The issue isnt hiring unqualified people. Its government mis spending. Pretty sure the money we give to the IDF would fix all F schools in the country. Get rid of private schools and we could adequately fund underfunded schools. DEI is not the issue😂

TL;DR your data is old and misrepresented about education job cuts. You see, positions created under "esser" funds expired in 2023 (in some cases in 2022). Your 'news' is literally a year old amigo. They rolled-over some positions using discretionary funds (that is the schools savings from things like self support revenue, grants, etc) while seeking alternative revenue sources to assume the expense of those prior-ESSER positions.. but all those ESSER jobs were already known to be temporary and limited contracts.

So this isn't regular jobs being cut, it is esser related jobs that need new funding sources or else the programs get benched/cancelled. Examples include mostly technology related jobs (IT support technicians), and education support roles (instructional aids, library assistants, tutors, etc). The REAL clinch is that for the past several years, education has been short in Special Education teachers, so the districts will often hire instructional aids or education assistants (IAs or EAs) to cover the role of 'direct support' for individual education plans (IEP). We largely saw this opportunistic behavior from school districts using ESSER funds. They let a bunch of SpEd teachers go in 2020, and replaced them with ESSER funded IA/EA jobs. When ESSER funds ran out, those jobs were deleted.

When those jobs get deleted, the SpEd program now has a shortage in the ability to provide supports to students, which in some cases are legally required. In situations like these, the districts have to appeal for funding increases to hire more, or hire back their SpEd teachers from pre-ESSER levels. However, district funding was adjusted down for the costs cut by getting rid of SpEd teachers in 2020, so.. I think you guys should be looking at funding numbers pre-ESSER and relating those budgets to today, 2024-2025 budgets, adjusted for normal inflation. You don't have to believe me, but I think that by next year, the budgets will be adjusted and the roles will be reinstated for SpEd (or at least IA/EA acting as proxy).

So please don't use this to fan the flames of sensationalism in the job market, as these jobs were never permanent positions, and the programs were specifically allocated under ESSER. Yes, many people are reaching the end of their contract. Should we also look at contractors being "jobless" and "laid off" when they complete their contracts? teaching is contract work, plain and simple. Contracts expire, contracts can be completed too.
