NASA Chief Gives Serious Warning About Betelgeuse Star Explosion.
One of the most eagerly anticipated astronomical events is the supernova of Betelgeuse. In the well-known "shoulder" of Orion, Betelgeuse is a red supergiant star that is nearing the end of its life.
Betelgeuse is one of the night sky's brightest stars, but it mysteriously began to wane in the latter part of 2019. One might even see the dimming with unaided eyes because it was so obvious. For several months, the star's brightness diminished, and observers questioned whether Betelgeuse had reached the end of its life.

For all we know Betelgeuse may have already gone supernova and we just haven't noticed yet due to the speed of light being so slow compared to its distance from Earth.

For all we know, Betelgeuse may have exploded already when you consider it is 642 light years away. What we see is the state of the star 642 years ago when the light left it.

Science has already confirmed it was a dust cloud passing between us and the star that caused the dimming.

Only the second video I've seen announcing a serious warning from Nasa without actually giving any detail about this apparent warning.

420 to 724 light years away and can be seen from 548 light years away.... Brilliant. Gives me so much confidence that this is a scientifically accurate video

This video has multiple mistakes; albeit I think they mostly are linguistic in nature. For instance he says the radius of the sun is larger than Betelgeuse, that if Betelgeuse were in our solar system that it would swallow mercury venus, earth and Venus, and says neon and iron fuse to make iron. Seems like someone might have just been asleep at their keyboard. Nevertheless, these thing bother me when it’s an educational video that someone might take these things to heart or at the least they’ll cause confusion. Would be nice if the creator would re-dub the videos audio to fix these errors.

The last supernova in our galaxy was only 400 years ago. If you're holding your breath, waiting for Betelgeuse to blow up, stop it. Go ahead and take a breath. The lives of human beings is nothing compared to even the shortest lived stars.

Saying that "The star is seen in most of North America and Canada" is absolutely unnecessary since Canada is in North America too! North America isn´t the USA alone, there is also Canada and Mexico (where this star can also be seen). Greetings!

Even if we were in the 50 light year danger zone of the super nova you would see it coming for thousands of years after the blast as the blast wave is traveling much slower than the speed of light.

I didn’t perceive a NASA chief’s warning

So amazing to think Betelgeuse may have gone Supernova over 500 years ago and we just don't see it yet. I would love to see its supernova self in my lifetime.

It can be seen from North America AND Canada? Astonishing.

If we can see the supernova tomorrow it means the star died nearly 700 years ago and the light is reaching us now. So the real question is DID the star die, is there something we can use to determine that other than light, and how much time do we have before it visible. Gravity waves from the event should still be resonating, like a disturbed pond. But can we differentiate them from the rest of the noise coming at us from the universe?

Whoever is alive when Betelguise finally supernovaes will see the most amazing spectacle in the sky that humanity has ever witnessed.

This video is clearly for amateurs, Betelgeuse is approximately 642.5 Light years from Earth, It's estimated to go Supernova most likely within 100, 000 years.

Why did he say Venus twice when talking about Beetlejuice absorbing planets in our solar system? Think he meant Jupiter.

Betelgeuse is one of the Primary Stars we Used for Celestial Navigation in the Old Navy !

I thought the ‘waning’ was caused by interstellar dust clouds temporarily obscuring it?

This was at least an order of magnitude longer than it needed to be...
