1917 should have been included or at least given an honourable mention. Watching it on the big screen, I really felt like I was there with the characters instead of just watching.

The opening scene of Saving Private Ryan still gives chills.

A few films that deserve at least an honorable mention are: Dos Boot, Platoon, 1917, Gallipoli, and Letters from Iwo Jima.

My favorite war movie is hands down
Platoon.
I love the movie so much, idk why but this movie hit me hard and struck a cord.

For me no single scene affected me and drove home the hell of war was the scene from Saving Private Ryan. The one where Giovanni Ribisi was dying and crying for his momma. Heart wrenching and also showed just how young many of these soldiers were. Many having just left the protection of their parents. Even writing about it bothers me still.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. One of the few films that shows what life was really like on a warship during the Napoleonic Wars.

Fun fact: R. Lee Ermey can be seen in Apocalypse Now during the Air Cavalry attack on the village if you watch carefully enough- he's one of the helicopter pilots. It was his first appearance in film.

The Netflix all quiet on the western front is definitely a top 3 now. Those whom haven't seen it....need to. You won't soon forget it.

Very happy to see "A Thin Red Line" on this list. That movie is super intense. Where's "Platoon"?

The fact that Dunkirk did so with little dialogue is impressive

"Wings" (1928) belongs on this list! (It WAS the first-ever Best-Picture-of-the-Year Oscar winner!)

I feel like 1917, Paths of Glory, and Platoon should have been honorable mentions at the least

“Letters from Iwo Jima” has a sibling movie called “Flags of our Fathers”-Clint Eastwood. It’s literally my top 5 WWII & war movies in general.

"Stalingrad", the 1993 German movie is absolutely a realistic one. It depicts how the morale of German soldiers eventually evaporated, and the sheer hopelessness engulfed them when winter descends and their whole army surrounded.

Hacksaw Ridge is a great movie that I really love although I got to say even though I've seen lots of bloody movies before. the violence in that movie was very visceral and shocking cause it just seems to come out of nowhere from the 1st time that they go into battle. Also a lot has changed effects wise since saving private Ryan.

I was shock that Platoon (1986) was never included in this list!
