I was the shop foreman at the largest Ford Dealer (by volume) in Missouri. We had a Deputy come in complaining about the top speed of his vehicle. We contacted Ford engineering and found the top speed was limited to the speed rating of the tires for liability reasons.

For those who think it is slow: First off the model S plaid goes 200mph so “teslas” generalized, are not slow…
The old model 3 LONG RANGE topped out at 145. The performance went 163. With the refresh they switched to a lower speed rating tire, and in turn lowered the top speed of the long range and standard range models. The performance will still be in the 160 range.

The old model 3 perfomance (before facelift) max speed is 155 mph(250km/h) the long range dual motor is 145 mph(233km/h) and the long range rear wheel is 140mph(225 km/h)so that means facelift is way slower

1999 Mustang GT hit an official 167mph at the speedway last spring! Still gets full range on its original unmodified power plant outside of air intake and bored out plenum an exhaust after 25 years got her summer of 1998 she's still going strong. That thing will be in a landfill lomg before she runs out of legs😅
