Nafplio was the first capital of Greece after Independence (between 1833 and 1834) and has been a major port since the Bronze Age. So strategic was its position on the Argolic Gulf that it had three fortresses: the massive principal fortress of Palamidi, the smaller Akronafplia, and the famous Bourtzi or Castello dello Soglio on an islet west of the old town. The town is still a charming and ideal base from which to explore many nearby ancient sites and beautiful beaches.

Ατενίζετε από ψηλά το Ναύπλιο. Κεραμιδένιες στέγες, γκρίζα πέτρα, γαλαζοπράσινη θάλασσα. Το περίφημο Μπούρτζι, η Ακροναυπλία, το Παλαμήδι. Μια εξαιρετική πόλη που ανταμείβει τους επισκέπτες της. Κάστρα και νεοκλασικά κτήρια, παλιές γειτονιές, πεζόδρομοι και μεγάλες πλατείες. Μια πόλη γεμάτη ζωή, που διατηρεί τους θρύλους του παρελθόντος και παρασύρει στη μυστηριακή της ατμόσφαιρα. Η «Νάπολη της Ανατολής» των Βενετών, η πρώτη επίσημη πρωτεύουσα της Ελλάδας το 1828. Μια υπέροχη πόλη!
