ADHD server here. This is my 21st year as a server, and with parties of 1- 4, I'll remember everything, anything over a 4 top. I'll write the orders down in my book.

There was a restaurant I went to once owned by two brothers; one ran the kitchen the other ran the front of the house. The one out front never wrote anything down. He remembered what order groups came in and how many were in each party. He took drink and food orders and got everything right every single time.

My Aunt was such a waitress!! She remembered everything for a table of 8. But she said, when she got back to the kitchen, she'd write it down. But, back at the table, "this lady with huge earrings wanted this. This guy with this color tie wanted this." I just can't imagine Any guy on this planet doing what my Aunt did !!!

Mine too! I have found when servers don't write anything down they usually get something wrong. And if I had an allergy, I would just feel better if I saw the server write that down. For allergies, the server should just write it for peace of mind of the customers...

Happens to me every time. Then, I have to wait for them to redo my order because it's covered in allergens. 🤦‍♀️ This is why I hate eating out.

Everytime I've had a server do that they've gotten it right. I'm amazed how they can do it with a bunch of other tables as well

I do the same thing when I order with having intolerances to gluten, egg and dairy. Yes really fun to eat out

I absolutely can not do that kind of thing. I have to write it down. Especially if it's busy around me. No way will I keep anything straight

I have several issues with what this portrays. First of all just because you can’t do something does mean that someone else can’t do it. I know many people who can remember things without writing it down. Second and this is my personal opinion when going out to eat. That this is not your kitchen, this is a public restaurant. If you want something your way… cook it yourself in your kitchen.

Well, as a former server
I am HORRIBLE with names REALLY horrible
You have to introduce yourself to me at LEAST four times before I can remember it
But working new year's party
Three tables, ten persons each table
I never wrote down anything at all and not forgot anything, even remembered what face ordered what

Some people (like me) just have this kind of weird memory

Written down or not, if something is wrong, it's going to be my order. I have a very restrictive diet. I get food that's wrong all the time. On top of that, If the dish has something in it that wasn't on the menu, I'm not gonna be able to eat it. Like the caesar salad that came with crushed red pepper flakes for no reason. Seriously??
