Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds tells Sky's Trevor Phillips a £1bn investment by DP World will go ahead, but he had to "have a conversation" with the company after a row over comments made by Transport Secretary Louise Haigh.

Mr Reynolds also refused to comment on why tech billionaire Elon Musk was not invited to the UK investment summit, saying that "not everyone can come", but he will talk to "anyone who wants to invest".

Appointing someone as business secretary who has had very little or no business experience let alone run a business, and then pretends to be an expert in the subject, yeah that makes a lot of sense Mr Starmer.

A business secretary who has never run a private business.

This government is going from disaster to disaster. The budget will be yet another one and discourage business investment with tax increases.

I’m sorry but I just don’t have any confidence in the people in this government. They sound like they’re all trying to convince themselves that they know what they’re doing, let alone trying to convince us. Students in professional dress!

Reynolds invites people that have wronged this country, yet doesn’t invite Musk the richest man in the world, shows his lack of experience.

This is not the way to run any country but the Labour Party are too stupid to understand that, let hope they don’t last long enough to do real damage.

So we are getting ripped off by the energy companies

So they want the people with lots of money to come and invest in the UK - and they want those with the broadest shoulders to pay the taxes. Aren't they one and the same people. They come to the UK, invest loads of momey, and then Labour tax the crap out of them. Doesn't sound s very good proposition to me.

Good stuff holding him to account on Musk! Of course authoritarian regimes and "rogue operators" are invited but if someone dare call out authoritarianism on X then god forbid 🤣🤣

He couldn’t even name any big hitters attending this summit. He couldn’t sell a drink to an alcoholic.

How much of a tax break have they been given?

In addition, Jonathan Reynolds has recently sacked all the members of the Board of Trade so there is no one to talk up the UK as a place for doing business & investment at the International Investment Summit in London tomorrow because he hasn’t appointed a new Board yet. Utterly shambolic.

We don't like peop!e who say hurty words about us even if they are the richest man in the work and could potentially invest in our economy

Reverse Brexit? How about finish getting us out of the EU instead of holding us in.

In regards to ports the government helps facilitate human trafficking into our ports by ordering the RNLI to meet the traffickers product in the English channel with a response quicker than most taxi services.

I just love to see him squirm when asked about Elon Musk. The interviewer got the minister really good. 😂
