this is absolutely kick ass content. I never watch a video until the end, usually 30 seconds. I watched the entire f**** thing!

This isnt zone 2 training though. Dr. Peter attia makes it very clear that interval sprints / HIIT doesnt work your zone 2 system. What youre doing still improved vo2 max though

That is, not zone 2. Zone 2, you should be able to have a conversation, but it's a little uncomfortable to talk. Walking fast or a slow jog, is zone 2. Your doing a hiit workout.

Hey man I enjoyed your video but there are some major misconceptions in it.

1- There are many definitions for zone 2, but it's basically when you start burning more carbs than fat -> that is the point when you exit zone2. Based on the first VO2max test you did, your zone 2 actually ended @115 heart rate! (VT1) you basically had no zone 2 and your body was not adapted to use fat so you had a very narrow zone 2 Range. Notice how this improved in the second test and your new VT1 is now 132 heart rater! Which is what we would expect for your zone 2 (usually around 70/75% of my max HR). So congrats on improving you fat usage and your VO2max.

2- Some of what you did was zone 2 -> Example the steep incline on the treadmill or the fast walk but the rest was interval training! Just because you average HR was around zone 2, doesn't make it zone 2 training. Don't get me wrong, interval training is great! And as you can see, very effective at increasing VO2max. The problem with it is that its intense on the body, and you cannot do it too often without running into problems with recovery and injury. Zone 2 training means staying in the Z2 range for more than half an hour.

I walk almost every day with a weight vest. Helps me stay motivated.

Zone 2 isn't as effective if you bring intervals of zones 3-5 i to it. You had to do purely steady state zone 2 and pull back the effort when your heart rate went too high for this video title to be accurate.

Your jumps have always been amazing to me. I hate cardio too. You have no reason to be nervous, you're good and always have been. We are all our own worst critic, never doubt yourself.🙏

Not zone 2 at all. Average heart rate is not the same as steady state in zone 2. Still has benefit but not zone 2.

Zone 2 work outs stay in Z2, it’s not the average heart rate

Great video! I've lost 40lbs and with another 10 will have my abs back since teen years! 6'4" and weigh 230lbs today. I find it far easier to lose weight switching from splits of chest/shoulders and legs/back to working out every day chest, then shoulder/triceps, then back then legs. I also walk dog twice a day and often with 45lb ruck sack. Eating more fish and shrimp makes losing weight so much easier as well. Sauna after training reduces muscle soreness.

This is HIIT training. Zone 2 is being able to workout with a smile.

Smart move not actually doing zone 2 to ensure comment engagement. Worked well.

Zone2 is easy. Stuff on video is high intensity. Overall it takes months to improve cardiovascular performance. But running performance and economy improves immediately when one starts running more and squatting less.

If you’re breathless, you’re increasing the proportion of sugar being burned for fuel and decreasing the use of body fat. If you can’t talk easily while jogging or bicycling, you are working too intensely. Perform your aerobics at what is called a conversational pace, and you will be using up to 90% fat as fuel Mike Mentzer

So, you let yourself go. Then, you got in shape. Cool.

First 25 seconds and already so many false information. You dont want to have an average of 120-140bpm, you need to stay in your zone 2 consistently to benefit from it and you should at least try to maintain that for 45 mins to start having the benefits he talks abouts. Listen to Dr. Peter Attia for real advice.
