How One Man Circumnavigated the World … By Car

Ben Carlin wanted adventure, and he wanted it bad. He mined for gold in his native Western Australia, but that didn’t go so well. He enlisted in World War II, hoping to be a hero and dispose of bombs—instead, he won the less sexy task of repairing latrines. At the age of 35, fearing his chance at glory was running out, he decided to circle the globe in an amphibious vehicle—with his new bride, Elinore, as co-captain. Embark on a rousing tale of a honeymoon (and a marriage) that had a hard time staying afloat.

Well they could actually make a really good movie about it. Him marrying the girl of his life with a dream in mind and that same dream taking that girl away.

What he fails to mention is that Ben was an arrogant violent man who when he finished had isolated himself there was no on at the finish line.
What he did was amazing even today would be. But he was a deeply flawed guy who sabotaged himself the point that no one even bothered staying in contact with him.
