Making Up My Own HERO Character - Meet Samson, The Deer Guide

We are back in The Hidden World (Mutant Universe) with the first Guide of the year! Meet Samson The Deer Guide. Watch me sculpt him from polymer clay and listen to his entire backstory and lore throughout this entire process video! From scratch I make his armature, sculpt him with clay, paint him with acrylics, and add all of his details.

i think one of the coolest collaborations would be you, as the sculptor and storyteller, teaming up with an animator to make mini-movies! maybe short skits of how the guides got turned or, maybe a rare instance of a anti mutant fightng a mutant!

I think Samson is my favourite guide so far!! He has a real gentle and comforting energy :)

I will say I think it was actually a really good decision to give him fully grown antlers. Samson might still be young in age but he is already carrying responsibilities that go way beyond that. He's a guardian, a protector and a hunter. The antlers can easily be a symbol for that, for his already adult responsibilities, for his power and even for the strong creativity in his mind. And that all seamlessly pairs with the damage and cracks to his mask, as he does not feel like a child but as someone taking on a great and dangerous responsibility. So while you might have not originally intended it as such, this decision did lead to some fantastic symbolism.

Really like the idea of an animal absorbing some of his essence during the transformation. Also really like that its an opossum, which are usually portrait as nasty pests, but here she is a lovely little companion
