An easier option. Seat for you, seat for the guitar, put the Mrs in as checked luggage. Problem solved. Guitar is safe AND you've got a free roadie at the other end. Yep. Win/win!

Great informative video Marty.

I wish my math teacher could teach lessons like this dude.

This lesson is like balancing a checkbook. Most teachers never teach it and you may only need it after 18 years but you either learn early or the hard way

Thanks Marty this unites two fears, fear of playing in front of people & fear of flying. :)
Oh ha! please teach Jet Airliner.

The moment when Marty takes the Heritage out of the case, brilliant

Marty, I prefer the hard case. The few times I've flown I have carried my guitar to the gate and then they take and stow it with the luggage. I loosen my strings a bit. I've watched the handlers and they have so far seemed to appreciate that the instrument is somebody's baby.

I brought my Taylor acoustic in a Mono case and have had some issues. The problem is many of the regional aircraft don’t have space in the overhead to fit a regular size guitar. So the only option is the closet (if they have space). I recently purchased a Journey OF660 carbon fiber which sounds great and can be taken apart to fit inside a suitcase the size of a roller board. It has been terrific.

Last month, i snuck two guitars on to the train with me... 😝 haha! Then meandered to the observation car for my strumming! Thank you awesome AMTRAK employees who all looked the other way!

One thing - make sure you get a *good* hardshell or gigbag. If you wouldn't put other luggage on top of it, or trust the gigbag when it's being jostled, don't take it to the airport.

If I'm the only person moving my guitar, I like gig bags.
If it's other folks handling (slamming, dropping, and kicking!) my guitar, it travels in an Anvil flight case. A high-end flight case is both expensive and heavy but I've never had any problems when I've used them! Great video!

mono cases have very little protection if any weight is on them. someone puts a heavy duffel on top of guitar in overhead bin. someone doesn't see the neck of guitar in bin and tries to jam their suitcase in etc. Reunion blues Aero, Continental and some other brands offer better protection with the convenience of a gig bag.

You are like a magician Marty, pulling endless things out. Lol. Good advice. I heard another good tip from Justin Sandercoe. He said wear the gig bag upside down, so it doesn't have a neck sticking up drawing attention to it. Happy Thanksgiving Marty!
