The Worst BR in Ground Battles Right Now!

I finally updated Warthunder after a couple of days, first off let me say that I’m kinda disappointed by the last major update, there were some good improvements in terms quality of life.

There were a lot of bug fixes and gaijin finally added the gun sight customization to the options.

But overall it wasn’t really something that makes people comeback to the game, and I am not a fan of chinese tech tree and couldn’t care much about a new Russian bomber.

So being bored out of my mind I started playing my 8.3 American line up again, and I gotta say as much as I thought 10.3 and 9.3 BRs broken, 8.3 definitely takes the crown for being an absolute dumpster fire masochistic ritual.

So far from 6.3 up until 10.3 every line up that ends in 0.3 is completely abused by the higher BR premiums and tech tree vehicles.

You get in a game with a 9.3 tank, you are easily farmed by the swarms of 10.0+ premiums.
You get in a game with a 10.3 tank, you gonna get clubbed by the Japanese sub machine gun tanks and american 11.0 line ups.

Matchmaker range must be reduced to 0.7 instead of 1. It's the easiest short-term fix.

The hard, long-term one is massive decompression...

I have just broken through to 8.7 a couple of days ago and the difference a stabiliser can have is saving your sanity.

7.7 and 8.0 france is perma max uptier for the last months I've bothered with it. It's nearly unplayable on some maps, by the time you peak you can get LRF'd and killed before your wobbly unstab 50s tank has got the target lined up. Facing composite, LRF, ERA, stab t55s you can only pen on 2 small areas of the side at closer range, is amazing.

yea i agree with you 8.3 can be a nightmare at some nations the uptiering and downtiering is so bad that some ppl just quit cuz people have advantage or disadvantage

I've been playing a lot with American 7.3 lineup recently, and to my surprise, like 80% of the matches were down tiers on Europe servers. I don't really know why but you should try it. Also very good tanks.

Yep. Though for me 7.7 is tied with 8.3 for the worst experiences in the game. There technology difference between 7.7 and 8.7 might actually be even greater imo

10.7 Russia fighting against Germany is a living nightmare if you don't have premium vehicles in that lineup. Begleitpanzers, Gepards, Raketenautomats, Pumas, and just about any IFV is literally cancer to fight against. I made the mistake of going down the T72/T90 line which has no reverse speed and has a slower autoloader than Leopards and Abrams tanks.

The BMP-1 cant even compensate for the lack of mid tier tech like sabot in this BR since all you get is uptiers. Both the enemy and teammates are equally horrific. You'll be constantly competing for kill against fully stabilized MBTS firing darts and BMP 2s which are basically you but better because stab and better autocannon. The enemy are mostly 9.0-9.3 tanks. Long rod apfsds are a common occurance and positioning serves zero purpose cause you'll eventually get flanked by a heat wielding light tank that completely outruns your trash turret traverse rate. Not to mention helicopters and the inconsistent Konkurs ATGM

As someome who grinded GB and Sweden, 8.7 was the best BR for downtiers.
Mostly because 9.3 and 9.7 are avoided like the plague.
It seems a bit strange to hear that 8.3, being only one bracket lower, is in such a dismal state.
I hope that one day, some sort of balance pass will restore some of the potential that a lot of fun lineups are currently missing out on.
Many nations have cool 9.3 vehicles, and yet are made completely irrelevant because you always get uptiered to fight MBTs which you can do nothing about.

My only saving grace was the 105mm DM63 on the Olifant Mk.2 at 9.3.

MAN! I must only agree. I bought 8.3 US Lineup in one sitting, started playing it and its just a pain. Agree with everything you said.

as a 9.7 israeli main i have to agree with this video, i always get uptiered to fight T-80UDs, 2S38s, and many other 10.0-10.7 premiums

the chances of getting an uptier is like 95% while a downtier is 5%

Quite surprised to hear that 8.3 and 10.3 are bad BRs. I'm having a blast with GER & SWE 8.3 lineups, 8.7 RUS, as well as the American 10.3. Also looking forward to FRA 8.3
