SCP-403 | Escalating Lighter (SCP Orientation)

Today we will be studying Item number SCP-403: Escalating Lighter, Object class: Safe.

SCP-403 is a visually unremarkable naptha-fueled lighter that was discovered in a cafeteria at Site-[REDACTED]. If ignited repeatedly within 24 hours the flame produced by SCP-403 becomes larger and more violent in nature with each subsequent ignition.

During an experiment a Class-D test subject attempted to light SCP-403 a third time within two hours, resulting in a powerful explosion of superheated gas and plasma. This event destroyed the monitoring equipment within the testing cell, and caused significant damage to the flame-resistant plating lining the walls. Despite this, the subject and the item itself remained virtually unharmed.

Radio-imaging has shown the formation of a magnetic field around the lighter, which is hypothesized by researchers to be the cause of this immunity.

A naptha fueled lighter would be something like a classic Zippo, with a wick. Most of the art shown is a Bic style lighter, they use butane. just a minor nitpick. I like lighters.

my friend onetime had a infinate lighter till it was destoyed 5 years later. it was a dead small bic lighter and continued to work for 5 years and lol the color of the SCP is also blue.

Well if you needed to take out an astroid/other space based SCP, just put a man on a rocket, send him to the object and have him light that lighter 5+ times. Should take care of any threat. Though maybe keep it under 7 ignitions? Anything higher might have energies enough to disrupt entire solar systems so the required safe distances to use it at become exponentially harder to achieve. :P

So, when that guy did the atomic-weapon-level flame-out but was unharmed, how long did it take him to suffocate due to there being no oxygen nearby or did he just die of his blood boiling and skin flaming off because of the heat radiating from the remains of the non-protected things still around after the flame-out? Or, does holding the lighter also make you need no oxygen and be completely immune to heat damage as long as you are holding it?
