I’ve met this plane and crew in person. Unlike anything I’ve been around. To be under the massive wings with 6 engines. 28 rear wheels. 4 landing gear wheels. 15 man crew flies with aircraft at all times. Very protective crew members did not allow push back with any tugs. They blew down three full grown trees and paid port authority for all the damages. Amazing experience I had and will never forget.

So proud to have worked as a mechanic at an airport and saw this beast from my own eyes a few times landing in said airport... We will miss you, AN-225.

To all the ones that claim the engine is still spinning because of anything but the wind: It's called windmilling. The turbine shaft has such incredible low friction, that even a slight wind can turn the turbine blades, which are connected via shaft to the fan blades, that then in turn... turn.

To all those, that wish for a new An-225: They already decided to rebuild it with the second frame, that was never finished.
