Experience the language. Become the language.

Agustina shares five things she does not like about United States.

Research shows that the best way to learn a language is to have authentic experiences with it with Comprehensible Input.

Rather than boring grammar lessons, we provide free interesting listening experiences for learners of Spanish. By listening to our stories, culture explanations and games, you will get used to real Spanish as it's used in context, and develop a native-like intuition for the grammar and the vocabulary, together with a clear pronunciation. The videos try to be easy enough for a complete beginner to start picking up the language.

Comprehensible Input means that the videos try to use basic Spanish as much as possible and be easy enough for a complete beginner in the language to get the gist of the story and start picking up vocabulary. That way you'll get that i+1 necessary to make fast progress in the language.

I live in Florida and the reason I always stop at stop signs even when there aren't any cars approaching is because you never know when there's a policeman hidden nearby waiting to give you a ticket. That's a major source of revenue for police departments and I know lots of people who have been cited for "rolling through" a stop sign

I agree with four of five. But, I prefer slower and careful driving.

Great video, thank you for making your Spanish easy to understand. I hope you tried some other places for coffee besides Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts haha, those are the worst! Some cities like Portland have a lot of great coffee shops like Stumptown.

Maybe they drive faster in Argentina because the cafe es más fuerte. Buzz, buzz. Thanks for helping me learn español.

I'm American and totally agree on the coffee thing!

This video covered a lot of sensitive material, and I am sure it would take at least two cups of coffee to discuss. I do believe that in many cities, e.g. here in Austin, you can get a good coffee at 5 pm, if you know where to go. Rudeness is a problem in the US, and in my experience began to increase about 1990, and is at a dangerous level currently. Road rage is one variation on it that is particularly frightening to commuters, and sometimes involves the use of guns. As for States Rights, that would be a whole course. Many people see States Rights as very important, whereas some others favor a more centralized approach. At the moment, it does balance fairly well, and in the end if the central government has the power constitutionally for certain tasks, they can overrule state governments. It is in some ways a useful tension, despite its drawbacks, but personally, I favor removal of some state dominance in certain specific areas.

As for traffic signs and speed, remember: speed kills. It really does. I think about it every time my wife takes a walk, and wait anxiously for her return; she does the same when I walk, and I call her if I hear an ambulance, to let her know it was not me they are going for. It is so easy to die or be hurt by a car; you are young and do not see that, yet. When you get older, you will understand how precious life is, and how unimportant it is to get where you are going fast.

Nice video overall. Thanks.

I love hearing this raw perspective about my country from an Argentinian. I also agree with all of it, especially the bad coffee!

Staff etiquette depends massively on where you are. I'm British but my family lives in a pretty poor part of Arizona and I'm always surprised as to how friendly they are, same as most countries.

Como estadounidense viviendo actualmente en Mexico, entiendo mucho tu perspectiva. Siempre paramos a los signos de alto en parte porque si un policia te ve pasando, aunque no haya nada de trafico, te multan como $300 🙃

All of these critiques are valid! And it's a big reason why, as an American, estoy muy emocionado de viajar a otros paises este año y quedarme en el extranjero muchos meses

Agreed with a lot of what you say, but it also depends on where you are in the US. I'm a foreigner living there, and agree that the coffee sucks. But you can get good coffee if you know where to look. Peets coffee is good, and even has a Cortado like they have in Spain. Bluebottle coffee is also good. In Texas and a lot of California, cars drive like crazy and don't drive slow at all. At the end of the day, the US is a HUGE HUGE country and each state is almost like its own country (and probably should be viewed as its own country like in Europe.) There is way too much political divisiveness in the US these days, and I honestly prefer spending time in Europe or South East Asia but for now I still live in the US for work.

Great video! I have to ask, though ... where have you been in the US that people drive the speed limit and follow the rules of the road? 😆
