The Tragic Tale of Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix is one of the greatest actors living today, but also one of the most misunderstood. We all know him for his oscar winning role in The Joker, The gladiator and recently Napoleon. But behind the camera’s he’s very mysterious and not a fan of interviews, making it difficult to tell when he is joking or being serious. He has been acting ever since he was young and so deeply embodies his characters, that it’s sometimes hard to get a grasp on who he really is. This is the turbulent life of Joaquin Phoenix, and an attempt to understand the man behind the many faces.

How he didn't win an oscar for his portrayal as Johnny Cash is wild. One of the most talented actors in history

Now it makes sense why he was able to FULLY immerse himself in that Murray Show scene on Joker. It’s almost like he was re-creating that Letterman interview 🥺

Joaquin is a true artist. If he's in the film, you know you're going to meet a totally different person. Always disappearing into his characters.

It made me cry that they named their son River. What a brilliant soul Joaquin is! Great video 💕

The Joker as played by Joaquin is the best acting i've ever seen, no doubt. The entire movie you have this feeling you are watching a ticking, emotional, atomic bomb that sits there ready to blow up the entire screen. I don't know of any actor who ever gave shape to such a complex character and did that flawless and on a mind bending level.

His performance in Joker was so sad, disturbing and chilling that to this day I can’t watch it again. He really is a once in a lifetime actor. On another note, I just realized that River Phoenix is gone 30 years ago today. RIP.

I can't believe how that 911 dispatcher talked to him(when calling in his brother's o.d.).Biting his head off instead of trying to calm a shook-up kid!RIP River.

Joaquin is truly one of the few actors that I respect.
His name alone on a project is always enough to warrant my attention.

For me, the slipping from "good son" to the helpless insanity of the joker is the real stuff. He absolutely put the work in for the role and it's haunting me. Crying while laughing. Afraid and smiling. Polar opposite feelings portrayed at the same time, without it feeling like he is acting. I am taken by his work in Joker, he deserves all the accolades..

He came to a pizza restaurant that I was working at back in 1898. he was doing a movie in Petaluma CA. He was so humble, and just a genuine person. I feel honored to cross paths with one of the best actors of our time.

I think he should play Harry Houdini. It legit just popped into my head. He would absolutely emmerce himself in a role like that. I'm shocked nobody hàs done it yet. I Love Joaquin Phoenix❣️

River was also an outstanding actor. It was sad and tragic that River died so young. Joaquin is amazing. Even if the movie is bad, Joaquin would still deliver a much discussed performance, as always.

I haven’t watched many of his movies but I happened to watch “walk the line” and was shocked at how he can physically and mentally transform into these characters

Joker is the only movie that deeply stayed with me for days, even weeks. The acting was like nothing iv ever experienced. Its very hard to get me emotionally involved with a movie. I usually just see through it and don't feel anything. HE actually has a powerful gift there. ❤

Gladiator was my favorite movie for a decade, because the villain was so believable that it made Russel crowes characters challenge that much deeper.

Finally! I don't see many film channels talking about Joaquin 😭 Thank you for highlighting one of the greatest actors we have right now who happens to be one of my favorites✨

This man is a true gift to us. I often feel that his acting shows feelings that I feel on the inside but never let out. Every performance gives me the chills because we see something no actor has ever shown us before.
Also, I always had the impression that he was a lone wolf because of his past and his approach to his work. When I learned that he and Rooney Mara are a couple, I was really happy for both of them because they seem like to peas in a pot.

I believe that he is the only one who portrays the joker as a real life person whom everyone can actually relate to... He is definitely one of my favorite actors.

That 911 Dispatcher was inept. I did 20 years in Fire Rescue here in Florida (firefighter/paramedic).

You NEVER tell people in crisis to calm down. You don’t admonish them or speak to them like that. You lead by example. YOU remain calm and redirect that energy. Telling someone to calm down like that only serves to derail their train of thought and slows the entire critical process down.

That dispatcher/911 operator was undoubtedly burned out and didn’t care one way or the other.
