A Highschool Student Redesigned the American Flag

Did you know that the American flag was designed by a highschool student? There was news floating around at the time that Alaska and Hawaii were going to become states. So Bob Heft designed the flag with 50 stars instead of 48 for a school project he was doing. His teacher gave him a B-. He was told that he could raise the grade to an A if he made it the official flag for the USA. And 2 years later he did. What a mad man.

"Bob" Heft (January 19, 1942 – December 12, 2009) was the designer of the current United States 50-star flag. He has also designed a 51-star flag that would be used if a new state joins the United States. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan. But also don't forget On May 29, 1777, Betsy Ross was paid a large sum of money from the Pennsylvania State Navy Board for making flags, and on June 14, 1777, Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as our official national flag of 13 stars. Betsy would continue to make flags for over 50 years, many of which were through government contracts.
