I get asked very often about my negative rake scrapers. You can buy them here and there, but it's easy to turn a single bevel scraper into negative rake. I also include a short segment on sharpening carbide cutters used in woodturning.

I’m sure I’m not the only semi-newbie turner that needed this. Thank you, Phil.

Of course, it's beautiful. My first reaction was that it is missing the pit. I'm a guac fan.
Love Thursday evening.

Thanks for this important info. Most turners have always wondered what is meant by a negative rake. You covered it from top to bottom. You gave all of us the ware, when, how, information that was needed. A little refresher course never hurt anyone. Thanks for this valuable info. KEEP ON TURNING 😃

Im kinda new to turning lathe. I picked up some antique tools. 1 was a old craftsman. But these are very interesting an much better. I got about a dozen. Gotta work a fixture so l can properly sharpen them. Hey lm use to carving tools an a maple mallet to make my cups bowls and spoons. But l do have a big cherry tree cup up. Cause l figure there will be much damage while learning lol. Thanks for all your info. You have a gift thanks for sharing.

Thank goodness for the clarification, because I could never quite catch the middle word (rake). I was guessing negative 'edge' scraper.
